Mini W Bread

When i was little and first read Heidi, I was enamored with parts where Heidi's grandfather gave her big chunks of bread and cheese to eat. It always sounded so delicious.

I came to a stop when I spotted with Mini W Bread at Wegmans. It looked like a small loaf of Heidi bread to me. I love the W dusted on top.

It wasn't just cute, it was very tasty. Especially good cut thick and toasted.

Rain boots and photo hogs

It's finally raining here and I am so glad. My lawn was dried to a crisp and every night I had a ritual of standing over my tomato plants with a hose. My newly placed rain barrel was empty.

I am especially excited because this past spring Aaron sent me pink Hunter Wellie rain boots. I got Aaron a pair ages ago and he loves them. They are so sturdy, I have put holes in 3 pairs of other brands while he still has the one pair.

Note that while I was trying to take a picture of our boots together someone came wandering into the photo.

And then another.

"Hey guys, what's going on over here?"

It is nearly impossible at my house to take a photo of something without someone with fur nosing their way into the shot. The are the quintisential photo hogs.

Finally, after shooing everyone away I got a shot of just the boots.

Painting

I had been meaning to blog about this but the June month of creativity distracted me. Number 8 on my list of 2011 things to do was to buy art for the house. I've ordered a few small prints but they just don't fill my walls.

I was thrilled when my mom gave me this big oil painting for my birthday! It fits perfectly over my fireplace and the colors are perfect for the living room paint. I just love it!

Biscoff Spread

When I was visiting my friends Mike & Meredith in Holland, they turned me onto a spread called speculoospasta. It looks like peanut butter but it tastes like.... pureed cookies. The cookies are called speculaas or speculoos and are popular in Belgium and Netherlands. It sounds weird but it's so delicious.

Meredith sent me home with a jar and I hoarded it. I would even give Aaron long stares if he was spooning out too much.

I was perusing the aisles at Wegmans when I spied a jar of Biscoff Spread. It is a different brand but the same tasty spread. Now that I know where I can get it locally I have been much more generous and took a jar to work to share.

Pet of the Week

I usually open up my Pet of the Week emails expecting to see something furry. This week I got a green surprise!

If you are up for it I bet Mojo would be an awesome pet!

Mojo #12426356

This handsome little Iguana is Mojo. Mojo was brought to Lollypop Farm because his owner realized that Iguanas require very specialized care. He’s approximately 11-months-old and has been at Lollypop Farm since February. Mojo is eating well and growing very nicely. While he may be a small guy now, when he is full grown he could reach lengths of 6 feet! He responds well to gentle handling and will need an owner with knowledge and patience to continue working with him. Mojo can be seen at the shelter by appointment only. If you are interested in meeting Mojo, please contact assistant shelter manager Erin Sandle at sandle@lollypop.org.

Jazzy, the cat from last week was adopted!

Peach & Honey Popsicles

I have "Make popsicles" on my summer to do list. I've been thinking about it since last summer. My first creation was a batch of peach and honey posicles.

They turned out pretty tasty.

Berry picking

Today I went to Brown's Berry Patch with Tina & Lauren.

It was hot as blazes but we were determined.

Blueberries!

There is a lot there for kids too, although it would be more appealing in less sweltering conditions.

Goats seem to be hungry no matter what.

Greedy goats.

Braids

We are having a heat wave and I'm doing everything I can to stay cool. That includes keeping this mass of hair off my neck. Today... Swiss Alp braids. I don't know what this hair style is named, so I called it that. I could go for some fondue now.

Space Shuttle Regret

Aaron flying a Space Shuttle kite on our honeymoon

I have a great regret.

I am a bit of a space nerd and a big fan of the NASA Space Shuttle program. And I have always wanted to see a Shuttle launch.

The last Shuttle launch (photo from NASA)

With the Shuttle program coming to a close early this morning, my opportunity has passed.

The last Shuttle landing (photo from NASA)

Catching a Shuttle launch seemed complicated. They could cancel a launch even 2 seconds from blastoff. Launches could be delayed and postponed for days. Not conducive to booking travel. I put it off.

Now it is over and I regret not making the trek at least once. On top of being bummed that the Shuttle program is over, I have the remorse of never seeing a launch.

Something to learn from.

Pet of the Week

An 18 pounder! i have to confess. I like tubby cats. Also if you could train him to do "jazz paws" it would be awesome.

Jazzy #13055709

Jazzy is a 7-year-old male cat who weighs nearly 18 pounds. He has been at Lollypop Farm since the beginning of May because his owner could no longer care for him. This lucky boy is currently living in one of the offices here at the shelter. Jazzy is a handsome, curious and cuddly cat who will make a wonderful companion. He is very calm and enjoys attention. He absolutely lights up when anyone comes to talk or brush him and he has a way of charming people with his gorgeous green eyes. He lived with two other cats in his previous home and got along well with them. If you're looking for a true love bug, please come out to Lollypop Farm to meet Jazzy!

Moo Moo, the dog from last week was adopted!

Sunblock

You might think - How could one get creative with sunblock? Well, when I saw this one it stopped me in my tracks.

Not only does it have a lot of benefits, paraben free etc... but it comes in this super cool form factor.

I am such a sucker for product design, but fortunately what was inside was good too. I like having the sunblock in a solid state.

Chalkboard filing cabinet

I have been working on organizing our office which involves filing away a lot of paperwork.

It's been a few days since I have painted something with chalkboard paint so the filing cabinet fell victim.

I think the cabinet looks cuter now and I like being able to label what is in each drawer. I can't believe I haven't polished off this can of chalkboard paint yet.

New at Pittsford Dairy

I was pretty excited to discover that Pittsford Dairy now has their ice cream in single servings! Just the right size for a snack!

They also have ice cream sandwiches, which I was happy to see in single servings also. I can attest that these are delicious!

Bike ride

Aprille and I went for a bike ride along the canal today.

After breakfast in Schoen Place we rode from Pittsford to Fairport...

... and back again.

... a total of 13.8 miles!

I liked this ramp on the side of the steps for rolling up your bike.

And I liked this cat graffiti under one of the bridges.

Hello Kitty Duct Tape

With all the traveling that I have done my suitcase was showing signs of wear. It had cracked along the front. Other than the crack it was fine so I thought I would get some duct tape for the crack. I was thrilled to find HELLO KITTY duct tape! Perfect!

Watermelon knife

I got this watermelon knife awhile ago and I have been waiting for summer to use it.

Of course it is super cute and looks like a slice of watermelon, but it also cuts watermelon really well.

Pet of the Week

This dog also feature great aerodynamic ears that slick back for maximum velocity.

Moo Moo #12255437

Gemma Rose, also known as Moo Moo, is an 11-month-old Boston Terrier / Pit Bull mix. This sweet girl is very energetic and loves to go for walks. Moo Moo loves people and attention. She is housetrained and crate-trained. Moo Moo is learning new commands and would benefit from continued training. Training classes are a wonderful way to build your relationship with your dog, and you will receive a discount on your first course with Moo Moo. She would do best in a home with older children. Moo Moo loves to play, so she needs to meet any dogs in the household before adoption to make sure they will be buddies. If you are looking for a lively companion, please visit Moo Moo at Lollypop Farm!

Mooshoo, the cat from last week is still waiting to be adopted.

Summer to do list

My summer to do list.

Solar lamps

I got these solar lamps to light up the patio. I love that they soak up the sunshine all day then brighten the night after. The blue one was for my mom but she forgot to take it with her so I'm enjoying it a bit longer.

Mountains

The scenery in Park City is amazing. My photo workshop was at the top of the mountain... lift ride was perfect for pictures.

Jenina on the lift!

Foot shot.

What a view!

You just have to be careful not to drop your camera.
