Some kind of "sceleton" from a sea animal, I guess, but what? I am Danish, living in Denmark, and I guess they are not living here. ;o)Bettinahttp://bettina.loehmann.dknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8367057002391131704.post-24313135001329530422006-06-23T09:44:46.636-04:002006-06-23T09:44:46.636-04:00Hmm, is this why the one on my shelf is so sticky?...Hmm, is this why the one on my shelf is so sticky?Auntslappyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15546711688593215992noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8367057002391131704.post-50149184445585718972006-06-23T10:47:57.950-04:002006-06-23T10:47:57.950-04:00When I was a kid, there was a beach near our house...When I was a kid, there was a beach near our house where you could find thousands of live sand dollars on a sand bar just a little ways out. We used to pick them up with our toes since we didn't like sticking our heads underwater. When they are alive, they are dark brown and kind of fuzzy all over.allisonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17704677630949945186noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8367057002391131704.post-15839239648626821892006-06-23T10:51:28.803-04:002006-06-23T10:51:28.803-04:00That is so cool about the "doves". I picked up many, many sand dollars as a child but never saw (or even knew about) the doves. I will have to make a point to find some sand dollars the next time I go visit to attempt to see the doves.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8367057002391131704.post-54348421959112444752006-06-23T14:43:54.223-04:002006-06-23T14:43:54.223-04:00This post got me so curious about the doves inside...This post got me so curious about the doves inside sand dollars - turns out they are teeth. But I do remember that bleeding hearts (a type of fuscia, I think) and be pulled apart and little shapes come out of it that go with a romantic story. What are you making with yours? I bet they would make a cool mobile or garland (pre-punched holes!).Jenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10104371618875202266noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8367057002391131704.post-49865809276400253842006-06-26T15:49:16.793-04:002006-06-26T15:49:16.793-04:00In all the times I've been to the Outer Banks,...In all the times I've been to the Outer Banks, I've only seen whole sand dollars once, now I'm a teensy bit jealous!
