Look at this kid! Is there anything better than a birthday sundae? Apprently not.
I don't enjoy remembering her entry into this world and the scare with her and her mom, but I like to think about the day she went home looking like an alien in a car seat.
Yesterday was Aaron's birthday. The Anchor Bar from Buffalo, (the home of Buffalo wings!) opened a branch in Rochester and a birthday celebration seemed like a good time to try it out.
They are pretty tasty, but the best part is if it's your birthday you wear a giant chicken wing hat and they sing to you. I just wish I had remembered my camera. The phone pics just aren't cutting this momentous occasion.
We have a new addition to our household. I have been wanting a fish for awhile, but we were worried about Stewie snacking on it. So Aaron got me a little tank for birthday week (it's post-birthday week this year instead of a pre-birthday week)
And he got me this fella to live in the tank. After my experience with the Celebrity Apprentice last week, I named him Donald.
Today was Aaron's birthday so I made him a Domo birthday cake. I had been planning this for awhile. When I saw JustJenn made Domo cupcakes I was happy to see that Domo does indeed translate well to baked goods.
Today was Aaron's birthday and we went to the Naples
Grape Festival. The best thing I found there was candy apple
with a GRAPE candy coating. They called them grapples. Not to be
confused the the grapples
I have written about here before.
By the way... if you put a singing sparkling candle on
someone's birthday cake, be sure you don't have other candles on the
cake that the singing sparking candle may pop open and be melted by.
Heh heh.
As part of my birthday weekend we went to the New York Wine & Culinary
Center for a wine and food pairing class and lunch. The
center is a place to learn more about New York State food and wine. In
the picture above I am actually tasting different kinds of New York
fruit juices.
At the center you can take cooking classes, taste wines or eat
at the restaurant. There are classes for different kinds of pesto,
strawberry and chocolate, baking with berries...
Saturday was my friend Doug's birthday and we went to his bowling birthday party. Check out his awesome cupcake birthday cake.
I have not been bowling in years... as you can see from that fabulous split I produced. I won't be joining the pro tour anytime soon. (but if I did I would need this bowling ball and bag!)
Today was Lauren's big one year birthday party. I made her one of my bunny cakes... but what I was really excited about was a candle I got at the Chinese grocery store. A Happy Birthday singing candle! You light it... it shoots sparks into the air while it plays Happy Birthday, then the flower bursts open with six lit candles. Wooowee!
