maroon5

We came to Cleveland to see Maroon5 in concert. They were amazing! The Hives opened for them and they were really good too.

There was a lot going on at this concert. The Cleveland Indian's just won their playoff game right next door and the crowd was estatic. It was also James Valentine's birthday so there was a cake on stage that turned into a food fight.

These were the best seats I think we have ever had at a concert. Adam was so close. Here is a video of him closing the evening with "She Will Be Loved".

cleveland

We are going to be in Cleveland for a Maroon 5 concert friday night and coming home saturday.

Is anyone out there from Cleveland? Are there any restaurants, shops or CUPCAKE bakeries that are must visits?

Keep in mind we are going to be there for a very short time.

race

We were at the race at California Speedway today. The Kodak No. 12 looked so cool... but had mechanical trouble before the end of the race. Bummer.

piglet

Piglet was excited to check out the track.

aaron

We signed the finish line.

concert

Can I just talk for a moment about how hot it was out there? It was 102+ at the track. I mean, it's already practically in the desert and then Southern California had a heat wave.

We went to watch a little of the 30 Seconds to Mars concert in the fan zone and I started to feel sick to my stomach. I have no idea how they were able to perfom like that... much less pull stunts like climbing the scaffolding (see above)

I remember saying to Aaron "I think I am going to die... of heat" as we stumbled around. It was that bad.

racegirl

One last thing. At the Busch race all the guys were snickering at the Race Girl car. They couldn't get over it being pink. Well, I thought it was cute. So today, I went and found their souvenir trailer and bought a t-shirt. They had the busiest trailer of any the drivers by the way! Hah!

concerts

This evening we hit up two concerts... Cherry Poppin' Daddies at the Party in the Park and Michelle Shocked at Big City Summer Fest. We probably would not have thought to go to Michelle's concert but Joel is a toe tappin, finger snappin' Shocked groupie with contagious enthusiasm.

butter potatoes

Of course one of my favorite things about the Party in the Park concerts is getting the Salt Potatoes. But really... look close... don't you think they should be called Butter Potatoes? Oh happy day!

(I had never had Salt Potatoes until I moved to Rochester... apparently they are a regional thing)

This has been concert week for me... Guster on Tuesday and tonight we went to see Modest Mouse. Pretty good show. (I was taken aback to see the lead singer smoking a cigarette on stage between songs though... isn't that an occupational hazard?)

I remember how surprised I was the first time I heard Modest Mouse, because for the longest time I didn't think they were a real band. It's because in 1999 I read their name in a suck.com comic and I thought they were made up. Hah.

(from the 3/5/99 suck.com article "Urban Hipsters")

Apologies for the f-bomb... you know how cartoon characters love to swear.

guster

Aaron and I went to see Guster tonight and we got to meet them after the show. (Looking at these pictures I feel bad because I realize I forgot to take my picture with Joe, their newest band member. Whups.)

It was a super concert and it was great to learn more about their Campus Conciousness Tour where they are trying to lessen their impact on the environment and spread the word about renewable energy and alternative fuels. (I wrote more about it on Rocha-chatter)

Lookit me grinning like a nut and clutching my post-consumer recycled paper environmental pamphlets. It was all I could do to refrain from loudly informing each of them..."I have reusable grocery bags! I love your new album! Sign my sticker?"
