Every year I miss a really cool indie craft show in Rochester because we go home to PA for Thankgiving. I was really excited to see that Java's was having a craft show for Valentines Day.

There were so many cute things, I did get a few. I tried to match the goodies up with the creator, but I was shoving things in my bag willy nilly, so I hope I didn't switch them up.

Starting at top going clockwise.

- knit coffee cup snuggie from knits & pottery

- wall decal and postcard from Shanna Murray

- Valentine from greengirlpress

- felted flower pin from second seed

- earrings from Mars

- clay pottery bird from Vicki Hartman

Once again, because I am away at my parents for Thanksgiving I am going to miss the Second Storie Indie Market! If you are in Rochester this weekend you should go though! We are so lucky to have a show of creative, handmade items right here in Rochester. Here are a few of the things that caught my eye.

jewelry by Small Bird, fun stuff from Robit Studios, ceramics by Vicki Hartman, flavored lip balms
from The Fuzzy Bunny, ceramic artist Dulcie Miller, clothing by Photosynthesis.... you can see more items here on the Second Storie blog.

*sigh* so cute. Great idea for your holiday shopping lists. So much more civilized than braving the Black Friday crowds.

Here are the deets for those of you that can go...

Second Storie Indie Market free admission
Saturday, November 28th 11-6
Sunday, November 29th 11-4

Handmade Nation Movie Screening admission $5
Friday, November 27th 7pm Panel, 8pm movie
(Panel discussion with handmade artists and an indie shop owner who'll discuss making it in the world of making it!)
Friday, December 4th 8pm

All activities taking place at Visual Studies Workshop, corner of Prince and University

I have been dying to try out my Yudu and so I made these strawberry dishtowels as gifties for my strawberry picking party.

First I used my overlock machine to sew the towels.

Then I created the design and printed it onto a transparency which I then used to burn the design onto a screen for printing.

Here I am flooding the screen with ink.

I made a bunch of dishtowels. Ok, so they aren't practical dishtowels, they are more just for looking at.

I am really impressed with the Yudu, it exceeded my expectations. I have all kinds of ideas now!

So a little more about the sky blue in my last blog post. I tend to go through color phases, and currently it is sky blue. Or maybe you could call it pool blue. It seems to have started with this necklace and bracelet.

Then I found this hand screened paper with goldfish on that I have been using to decoupage little boxes.

The latest is my new suitcase for all the traveling I have been doing. I added the stickers.

I wanted to make some spring garlands for gifties. I decided to go with a daisy theme.

I was going to fill the ribbon with daisies, but they took longer than I thought so each garland got five flowers.

This year instead of Easter baskets for goodies like the daisy garlands, I got these really cute "green" bags at Target.

Valentine's Day is almost here so time to get cracking on some Valentine's projects. I designed these little Valentine cards for work that you can download and print for yourself. They would be great for tucking into a lunch bag or for the kiddies to give to their classmates. There is a link to the pdf here.

I also designed these lollipop treat templates. There are ones with Valentine messages...

... and a template you can personalize with your own photo. There is a link to the pdf's and how to's here. Nice little treats for handing out to your buddies.

We needed some printable projects at work for New Years with an organization theme so I designed these To Do and grocery lists.

I made a cute version, which is my personal favorite. Who doesn't love waving carrots?

And this modern looking dotty design.

Tina asked me to make these for her in bulk to help her get stuff done.

You can download the PDF's and make some for yourself here... Kodak Tips & Projects Center.

I think cute bulldog clips make them extra cute.

Tina's 4oth birthday is on Sunday, but I decided to kick off the birthday weekend by making these buttons for folks to wear around the office today.

I made Tina a special big one.

I made her a crown too. She wouldn't wear it to meetings though, and I don't know why. : )

Tonight I am having a sit down Halloween dinner party, so that required some crafting on my part.

I handmade the party invites. I used pre-cut black cards and added a moon with a stamped branch and a punched out owl.

Was it an excuse to buy the Martha Stewart owl punch at Michaels? Perhaps. Look how cute! It even embosses the eyes!

Aaron cut the moons out of yellow paper for me and then I used a branch rubber stamp to make a tree branch for the owl to sit on. Aaron then wrote the party details on the back with a white pen.

We also made paper mache pumpkins for favors.

The pumpkins were filled with ye olde fashioned candy like Bit-O-Honeys.

The pumpkins weren't hard... we covered balloons with orange crepe paper soaked in Mod Podge mixed with water. After they dried we popped the balloons and pulled them out. Aaron added wire handles and I added black crepe paper jack o'lantern faces.

I was going to make one for each person, but they were more work than I anticipated so we made them larger... one for each couple.

I have always been jealous when I read about craft fairs in other cities like Renegade Craft Fair. But guess what? There is an excellent event planned for Rochester NY called Second Storie and this is it's second year. Second Storie } Indie Market will be held at the Visual Studies Workshop Auditorium on Saturday, Nov 29, 11am to 6pm and Sunday, Nov 30, 11am to 4pm.

I am still tormented because I missed it last year due to the Toronto Film Festival and this year I will be in PA for Thanksgiving. Ah well, someday the stars will align and I will make it there.

If you have a crafty streak, you have til Oct 27 to apply for a table. It sounds like such a good event to participate in... no tents needed, table, chairs, and linens provided and sunday brunch too! Otherwise, if you will be in the area be sure to attend and enjoy it for me!

For more info visit Second Storie or email http://secondstorie.net

I love all the Domo stuff at Target. I wanted to buy all the little Domo's in Halloween costumes, but the thought of our very own Domo sitting at home gave me pause.

Instead of buying a bunch of new Domo's I made a pair of bat wings for our Domo.

All I needed was some black felt, needle and thread to make Domo his own pair of bat wings. Boo!

Here are a few pics from making the wings on my Project Gallery.

I also uploaded pics from making the Domo cake.

Today I featured two summer photo projects on 1000 Words. Trying to hold onto that last bit of the season.

Photo Drink Umbrellas - if you make a bunch each with different photos you can use them to keep track of which drink is yours.

Photo Lanterns - not for use with real flame. They look cool hanging in a group. You could put led lights inside.

I have neglected to post some of the photo crafts I have created for the Tips & Projects Center at work recently.

Photo Bookmark - the beauty of this bookmark is it's made with super strong magnets so the bookmark doesn't fall out.

Photo Book Plates - I designed several different versions you can download.

Photo Plant Stakes - These look really cute stuck in a flower arrangement or a potted plant.

For Lauren's baby shower, made these seed packets to go with the favors. Since she was born early she had her shower after her birth and got to be featured on her favors.

Looking back at that project gave me an idea.

I designed photo seed packets that can be used for wedding favors or baby birth announcements. The project seems timely because spring always seems to bring lots of weddings and babies.

You can download the templates here and there are also step by step instructions. It helps if you have photo editing software, so you can add the pictures before you print them out.

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!

in an effort to combine St. Patrick's Day and the looming Easter holiday, I made shamrock Easter eggs. You can read about how I made these photo eggs with decoupage glue and blown eggs on 1000 Words today.

I made Candy Bar Cozies for my friends for Valentine's Day.

They were pretty quick to make, they are felt envelopes with hearts and buttons.

I like mixing and matching the colors of felt and buttons.

Each cozy has a yummy bar of dark chocolate tucked away inside.

You can see more pictures of this project and how I made them on my Project Gallery.

I am really excited about this project I created for work. It's a picture frame made from an empty Valentine's Day candy box.

Now you can reuse your heart shaped candy boxes instead of throwing them out. Reduce, reuse and recycle!

It's just the top and bottom of the box glued together with an easel cut in the back for it to sit up on.

Here is a close up shot of the back easel configuration.

You can see more pictures and detailed instructions here. (note: I have added the extra support arm you see above since I wrote up those instructions)

I blogged about it on 1000 Words too.

I ate a lot of chocolate while making these frames by the way.
