Today, I did something I never do. I took a day of vacation, but I didn't go anywhere. I stayed home and worked on unpacking boxes. Being home I was able to get a picture of the house with snow in the daylight. I put out a few decorations, like pine branches and big red Xmas balls in the window boxes. We also put candles in each window - I will have to get a photo at night of that.
The living room, dining room and kitchen are now unpacked and set up. I will have photos very soon. Til then I have a picture of a bench I bought at auction back home in PA. I wanted my mom to see how perfectly it fit in the spot between the kitchen and dining room. It's the perfect place to set down bags and whatnot when you come in the door. Note Stewie sitting comfortably on my laptop bag. Thanks Stew.
I picked up this sheet of paper at Nook because I loved the colors and thought the mittens were adorable. I think you are supposed to use it to wrap a gift, but I couldn't bear to part with it so I have it hanging in our staircase.
I have three mini clotheslines on our staircase wall for hanging things I like to look at. Do you like how Stewie has to sneak his little kitty head into EVERY photo?
By the way have you noticed some of the new features on Google? I was googling Nook and was able to move it to the top of the results page... above Linear Actuators or Motion Control Ball Screws... what?!
You can also leave comments, which I did of course. Love throwing in my 2 cents!
I got these cute wall stickers at a local shop awhile ago and finally put them up.
I loved the bunnies....
... and the owl.
The fox is pretty cute too. The wall stickers are made by Nouvelles Images and will peel right off the wall if I get tired of them. It's a risk-free way to have some fun decorating a wall.
The house is looking very Halloweeny! It looks so festive and cozy, I had to take a picture. I am sure the neighbors were wondering what I was doing on the front walk in the dark with a camera and tripod.
With Easter coming early this year, only five days after St. Patrick's Day, it poses a problem for me. Do I decorate for St. Patrick's Day? Or for Easter?
I couldn't resist things like my marshmallow peep bunny lights. So I skipped the shamrocks and went right for the Easter decorations.
This year instead of a typical Halloween party, Aaron and I threw a sit
down dinner party. I cleared the furniture out of the living room and
set up a dinner table with candlelight.
The theme was "mad science" so the table had beakers with dry
ice putting off foggy mist, test tubes strewn about and wine bottles
with POISON labels.
Aaron and I even dressed the part. These were our badges.
I got the laboratory invitations, test tube party favors and
POISON wine bottle labels from Martha Stewart's line of crafts at
Michaels.
Here is a shot of the jelly bean filled test tubes with our guests
names on them.
Aaron made the cornmeal encrusted goat cheese with warm tomato salsa
appetizer. He later served up little petri dishes with green jello in
them for an aperitif.
It was a great evening. More pictures of the Halloween dinner
party are on My
Gallery. Matt took some great pictures too.
Today we went to Homearama.
There were only 5 houses instead of the usual 10 and they were smaller,
but I still saw some neat stuff...
I loved the floor of this walk in shower. It is made up of
lots of little pebbles.
One house was decorated in an Italian theme. I loved this
table in the kitchen set up as though someones grandma had been making
Sunday dinner.
This was the best kid's room... decorated all in a Monopoly
theme! So cool.
This was such a nice room. The jars on the shelves
all have sand in them with labels like "Nantucket", "Cape Cod" and
other beaches. A beach collection!
