With Easter coming early this year, only five days after St. Patrick's Day, it poses a problem for me. Do I decorate for St. Patrick's Day? Or for Easter?

I couldn't resist things like my marshmallow peep bunny lights. So I skipped the shamrocks and went right for the Easter decorations.

I forgot to post pictures of the January window i did for Sarah's shop.

I made a yarn snowman with styrofoam balls wrapped in white yarn, knitting needle arms and button eyes.

I also used the three snowmen Aaron's great aunt made on a wee sled.

I love doing these window dressings!

This is something I learned from my grandma.

She puts twinkle lights inside of vintage blue mason jars and let them sparkle up the kitchen counter.

I was sad to take down the Christmas decorations, so this helps ease the transition a little.

mantle

Here is a picture of our mantle decorated for Christmas.

mantle

It has my collection of Christmas bendy figures, mini snow globes and mini jewery boxes (faux limoge).

We are in PA by the way and at the mercy of internet dial up. Blog posting and email will be sketchy at best.

tree

I got a few new ornaments for our tree this year.

joy

Little metal Joy to the World sign...

merry

... and a matching Merry Christmas sign... from Joann Fabrics.

turtle

Here is a little crocheted turtle from the Martha Stewart Kmart Sugar Plum collection.

smasher

I also got a set of mini kitchen utensils from Martha's Kmart collection. There was a lot of cute stuff in her holiday collection.

Here are two of my favorite Christmas decorations... my German Christmas Carousels/Pyramids.

carousel

carousel

I actually got this one at Target a few years ago on clearance.

carousels

They cast a wonderful glow when they are lit. I am having trouble finding more candles to fit the one on the left though.

santa

A reader asked if I would share some pictures of my Christmas decorations. I would love to!

santa

These are pictures of my vintage Santas. Aaron thinks some of them look creepy, but I love the nostalgia they invoke.

sleigh

These little plastic Santas in sleighs with reindeer are the best.

Ho, ho, ho!

I will have more pictures in the days to come AND pictures of this year's handmade gifts and trimmings.

led lights

I just ordered these LED Christmas lights for our holiday decorating. They are amazing for so many reasons.

  • They use 80% less electricity than incandescent lights.
  • They last for about 20 years.
  • They don't get hot!

I am thrilled because we have been trying to be greener at our house, and I also fret over the risk of our lights getting too hot and catching fire.

These bulbs are suitable for outdoor use which is great because I need them for our window boxes.

This year instead of a typical Halloween party, Aaron and I threw a sit down dinner party. I cleared the furniture out of the living room and set up a dinner table with candlelight.

The theme was "mad science" so the table had beakers with dry ice putting off foggy mist, test tubes strewn about and wine bottles with POISON labels.

Aaron and I even dressed the part. These were our badges.

I got the laboratory invitations, test tube party favors and POISON wine bottle labels from Martha Stewart's line of crafts at Michaels.

Here is a shot of the jelly bean filled test tubes with our guests names on them.

Aaron made the cornmeal encrusted goat cheese with warm tomato salsa appetizer. He later served up little petri dishes with green jello in them for an aperitif.

It was a great evening. More pictures of the Halloween dinner party are on My Gallery. Matt took some great pictures too.

Today we went to Homearama. There were only 5 houses instead of the usual 10 and they were smaller, but I still saw some neat stuff...

shower floor

I loved the floor of this walk in shower. It is made up of lots of little pebbles.

italian table

One house was decorated in an Italian theme. I loved this table in the kitchen set up as though someones grandma had been making Sunday dinner.

monopoly room

This was the best kid's room... decorated all in a Monopoly theme! So cool.

sand room

This was such a nice room. The jars on the shelves all have sand in them with labels like "Nantucket", "Cape Cod" and other beaches. A beach collection!

I took lots of pictures...  you can see more of Homearama in my Gallery.
