We had a blast at the George Eastman House OSCARS party.
Oscar had a special t-shirt to wear for the occasion.
He came toe to toe with another Oscar.
Everyone had to stop and pet him. I mean everyone.
The band played "Who let the dogs out?" and he went out onto the dance floor. Everyone was taking pictures of Oscar and a lot of people wanted their picture taken with him.
He is going to be really difficult to live with now.
Oscar was featured in several ads for the party posing as Heel Oscar Heel, Sit Oscar Sit and Walk Oscar Walk. You can see all the pictures over on 1000 Words. He even has his own MySpace page, www.myspace.com/apugcalledoscar! I am sure he would like to be your MySpace friend!
As you can see, Aaron and I took a backseat in this campaign... we were just there to work with "The Talent".
(these pictures and the ones on 1000 Words were taken by Denise Batiste)
Oscar is going to be attending the party too... walking the red carpet!
This evening we had a Holiday
Cookies and Cocktails party. I pulled fresh baked chocolate chip, white
chocolate chip and macadamia nut, peanut butter kiss and molasses
cookies out of the oven all night.
I was pretty happy to wear my
new apron during the party. Party pictures are on My
Gallery.
I love going to holiday
parties. Last weekend was Aaron's office holiday party. Funny story. We
were told we won in a drawing and our prize was over on the tv table.
The table that holds the grand prize flat screen tv that is.
Turns out our prize was a
giant wooden animatrontic toy soldier. Not the big flat screen tv.
*sigh*
The toy soldier is almost as big as me and when I am
home alone I see it out of the corner of my eye and it scares the wits
out of me. Must go. I think Aaron is going to sell it on eBay.
This year instead of a typical Halloween party, Aaron and I threw a sit
down dinner party. I cleared the furniture out of the living room and
set up a dinner table with candlelight.
The theme was "mad science" so the table had beakers with dry
ice putting off foggy mist, test tubes strewn about and wine bottles
with POISON labels.
Aaron and I even dressed the part. These were our badges.
I got the laboratory invitations, test tube party favors and
POISON wine bottle labels from Martha Stewart's line of crafts at
Michaels.
Here is a shot of the jelly bean filled test tubes with our guests
names on them.
Aaron made the cornmeal encrusted goat cheese with warm tomato salsa
appetizer. He later served up little petri dishes with green jello in
them for an aperitif.
It was a great evening. More pictures of the Halloween dinner
party are on My
Gallery. Matt took some great pictures too.
Since we just can't get enough of pumpkins, today was our 9th Annual
Pumpkin Carving Party. Oscar went along dressed as Spider Pug. Sing
that to the tune of the Simpson's movie song "Spider Pig".
The weather held together long enough for us to select victims
and get them back to my house for carving. Afterwards we feasted on
pumpkin pie.
Our jack o' lanterns. There are more pictures of the party in My Gallery.
My friends Sarah and Denis had their annual St Patrick's Day party this weekend. I didn't get my camera out until the end when we were hanging out in their kitchen with their dogs... how unlike me.
I love St. Patrick's Day parties because I like making green food. This year I made something we have back in PA quite a lot... Watergate Salad. Very green and very yummy.
Saturday was my friend Doug's birthday and we went to his bowling birthday party. Check out his awesome cupcake birthday cake.
I have not been bowling in years... as you can see from that fabulous split I produced. I won't be joining the pro tour anytime soon. (but if I did I would need this bowling ball and bag!)
January 23 was National Soup Swap Day. It's a few months later, but after reading notMartha's post about the soup swap she attended I had to have one, albeit a tad late.
It's a great idea. Everyone makes soup, brings six 1 quart containers of their soup, then goes home with six containers of different soup.
Aaron and I made Potato Leek soup. We added London to the name because we first had it in there when my friend Kristen made it. In fact, we have the recipe she used from olive magazine. We had to keep checking the measurement conversions when we were making it.
Our swap was a great success and we are planning on eating soup all this week.
Tonight I had my annual Oscar's Party. Some of the food I had based on the five Best Picture nominees were... Babel - Coke (no ice), The Departed - cranberry juice, The Queen - finger sandwiches, Little Miss Sunshine - bucket of chicken, Iwo Jima - bottled water. I had some other things like steamed dumplings and kettle korn too.
Tina got the most winners right and went home with the prize... A Ticket Stub Diary. This is about the third or fourth time she has won and I am starting to wonder if she has connections in academy.
We went to a friend's Super BowlBig Game party this evening and there was a contest for the best team sign you would wave in the stands. I was very excited to get out the felt and the pipe cleaners. As you can see we went with a 3-D experience.
We won the contest but the Bears lost. Bittersweet victory.
