On our way back to Rochester, I spotted this Chipotle sign being hauled north on 390. We should have followed it. I am dying to know where it was going. I can only hope we are getting one in Rochester.
We are home in PA for Thanksgiving. I wish our drive to my parent's
house took us past Erie. On our way back from Cleveland a few months
ago, we were going through Erie where I noticed a
sign for a Steak 'n
Shake.
It sounded good I persuaded Tina to stop. Apparently Steak 'n Shake
was founded in Normal, Illinois in 1934. (I wish I could say I was from
Normal, Illinois)
The burgers were good, but what really blew me away was their
shakes. I especially liked the Side-by-Side Shake. It's two flavors in
one glass! Brilliant! I had dark chocolate shake and banana shake. By
merely moving my straw from one side of the glass to the other I could
switch flavors. Genius.
When I go to NYC there are certain places I just HAVE to go
to... Jamba Juice,
Pomme Frites
and Secret
Burger Joint. Thanks to some suggestions and wandering
around... I have three more.
Last week I realized that two of our local museums had
similiar themes. The George Eastman House has an exhibit of Lucha
Libre! Masked Mexican Wrestlers....
This was too much of a coincidence for me so we had "Mexican
Museum
Night" with our friends. We hit both exhibits and then when to
Salenas (newly
renovated) for dinner.
I got into Boston last night and already I have had lobster and the
yummiest clam chowder at the Union Oyster House
and an ice cream injected cupcake at Trani. Thank you
to everyone who has left me recommendations! You are the best! I can
tell this is going to be an awesome weekend.
We are in the North End and I love it. There is a cute
cobblestone street with pubs and cafes around every corner. Couldn't be
cuter or more charming. Heading out now to explore...
This year Nancy and Brian went to TIFF also and we were able to meet up for breakfast. There is a breakfast spot across from the Elgin Theatre called Eggspectation that was perfect. I kept calling it Eggceptional or Eggcitement.
I really should have posted this sooner, but I am going to be at
BlogHer in Chicago
this weekend! (look
down at the "C's"... it's me!) I am not exactly speaking, I
am going
to be working at the Taking
Your Blog to the Next Level Lab segment. I
will be there to help anyone that wants to learn how to start their
blog on Blogger.
Sooooo...
#1 Is there anyone out there that plans on going?
#2 What are some of the must visits for Chicago? I have never
been to Chicago before. I know I want to go to Minnies. Minnies
serves itty bitty food. Hee heee!
Today we went to pick up MY NEW SCOOTER! It took us awhile to find one
that was small enough for me and we decided on a Buddy.
And I got it in pink! I can hardly stand it.
I have to get my insurance and registration and then Aaron is taking me
out to practice riding. I am guessing that since I now have it... it
will rain the rest of the week... I'm pretty sure.
We picked up my scooter from a shop by Ithaca, so we spent the
afternoon there and had dinner at Moosewood to celebrate the new
the new scooter.
Pictures of the new scooter and our afternoon in Ithaca are on My Gallery.
I read about this sandwich and I think about it all the time.
It is called a Pig's Ass Sandwich! It has... "two types of pork butt (a.k.a. pork shoulder), one
that’s beenbrined and glazed with maple syrup like a baked ham, the other one
rubbed with a slew of spices and Peet’s coffee and thenslow-roasted and shredded like pulled pork. "
Ahhhh!
Sometimes our cable channels will run commercials for Sonic Burger...
of which there are none anywhere near us. At least the online locator
says there are none within 150 miles of Rochester. Aaron calls it a
waste of marketing dollars. I call it torture.
Now I am starting to see commercials for The Melting Pot.
There aren't even any in NY state! I do see there is one coming soon to
Buffalo... but that is just too far for me to have to watch commercials
of hot cheese and chocolate on a daily basis.
I am going to be in San Francisco the next two weeks for work. As soon as I got back from Ithaca, I packed my bags and flew out. Joel is here too and Tina joins us tomorrow. We have a lot of work to do, but we hope to get around a little too. Joel and I have already hit the In-n-Out Burger. Yummy, yummy.
