towel capes

I really like to give handmade gifts for the holidays, so I try to make as many as possible. This year I made the Martha towel capes for Hannah and the twins.

I started with brightly colored towels.

I used illustrator to make a superman like emblem and the girl's intials.

I cut them out and pinned them to felt as patterns.

This is Hannah's "H"... it had to be purple through and through.

Hannah... Leah... and Olivia.

I first sewed the letters to the shields and then the shields to the towels.

At the top I sewed a big button and a loop of ribbon for securing the cape around the neck.

And here are the finished capes. I am hoping the girls will be able to leap tall swingsets wearing these.
