Fancy Light Bulbs

All of my light fixtures in the upstairs rooms are original. They are a strange design that don't have a shade or globe. I didn't like having to look at the bare bulb, so I got the bright (har har) idea to paint my own bulbs like I have seen sold in gift shops (for up to $29!)

I got some clear round bulbs and glass paint (good for in the microwave and a 350ยบ oven, so I figure it can go on a lightbulb). An old light fixture I replaced from the basement was good for holding the bulbs while I painted them. I used a squeeze bottle of black glass paint to outline the designs and a brush and tubs of glass paint for filling them in.

I think they turned out really well. I can't stop making them.

Here are two other light bulbs I painted. Purple flowers and polka dots. The colored shapes shine on the ceiling. You can see my lighting fixtures that don't accomodate shades. But now I don't mind having bare bulbs.
