You didn't have to sit around and wait for ET to call. You could have made the first move with Cosmic Call. It was a chance to send a message, picture, video or music through high power, targeted, deep space radio transmissions to SETI-class stars. And is it not comforting that Hugh Downs is the intersellar ambassador? Mmmm hmmm.
I've read some of the messages and there were some funny ones.

I saw one message on the news that said "Come for a visit. But don't watch Independence Day."
I don't think I would have sent a message. I already have land on the moon and that is enough to make me strange.
