Since I have all the material that I bought for wedding reception tablecloths, I thought I would use it to make a wedding quilt. I bought a book to help out with the details.

I would like to make something like these quilts, but I have a feeling I am going to have to start off simple. I have enough material to maybe do a simple lap quilt first and then work my way up to something fancier.

  1. That is a splendid idea! I know, I would hate for all that beautiful fabric to go to waste. I was drooling over it in the earlier pictures.

  2. those are awesome! there are some cool quilts here too: stargazey.com - she has a great color sense, and a style where you don't have to do everything carefully. i love your pink and green. very lily pulitzer.

  3. Make some "Lilly" dresses! I love the watercolor or impressionist quilting technique. Have you seen that? Gosh, you could make so much with your table cloths. I'd bet each of your parents would like a memory quilt too.

  5. I recently found a ton of fabric I had stored in the garage. I'm starting on making throws for Christmas gifts!

  6. Jenny, you could start out with as complex a quilt as you like - well, maybe don't tackle curves first, but anything else is generally much less complex than it looks.

Plan it out, come on over to my place, and we'll have a quilt-piecing session, 'k?

  7. What a great idea! I got a great video out from my library a while ago, that demonstrated a really simple but effective technique for patchwork, where you cut strips, sewed them together along the length, so you have lots of stripes, then you cut along the stripes so your new strip is made up of part of each stripe..then you sew these together...this does not explain so well in type, but maybe your library has a similar video, or there may be instructions on the net. I think its called strip technique or something- although that could throw up some wierd search results! Naomi x
