I thought I had come up with another cat term... demonstrated here by Stewie... Catloaf or Kittyloaf. So called because the kitty has formed himself into the shape of a loaf of bread. But actually it had already been coined. It's also known as Compact Kitty or Meatloafing.

  1. Okay, I love the kitties, but methinks that person spends way too much time with their cats. (I don't know if it's sadder that I read most of the definitions or that I could picture what they were talking about!)

  2. My cat does the same thing too!!! It's so cute they just curl themselves up and tuck all their feet under themselves. I call it the "Tissue Box" pose. =D

  3. Your kitty reminds me of my Dante, aka Loafie. He used to fetch mice and let me do "roller coaster". I would make his front paws stick straight up into the air and he would act out riding a roller coaster. I know you totally wanna try it out on Stewie and Oscar now.

  4. For some reason we've always called that pose "Boat Duck."

  5. My cat, Linus, is a little meatloaf. She also neatly tucks her front paws under her, which results in my husband and I asking her, "Linus! Where are your feet?"

This is met with typical feline eye rolls. But, deep down, I think she likes it. :)

  11. Funny - so many different terms - we call it the VW pose - looks like a little Bug you know?!
Molasses also has a diving and snake pose, while Murphy has the upside down turtle pose.

  13. Our kitten Mrs. Slocombe does something similar which we call "eggplanting" (or "an eggplant"). Her rear section sits up much higher than her front end, and with everything tucked in, she looks like an eggplant!

  17. I had no idea there were so many names for this pose. We call it the "catloaf" too, but a friend of mine calls it the Toaster Cozy Position.

  18. I always called this "boat position" because my kitty can completely hide all of her limbs and looks like she is floating on the ocean. I guess that's mostly because my carpet is dark blue. When she gets in that position we always make a boat horn sounds and announce that the SS Opaw is about to set sail.
