I am starting to think all retail establishments should employ dogs. I love it when they greet me at the door and it makes me buy more stuff.

Featured here is Aaron with two cuties at Craft Company No 6, Tom from the Pittsford Dairy Christmas tree stand, a happy fellow at Wickham Pumpkin Patch and Gobi at Whittier Apple Farm.

ShopDogs are better than the greeter at WalMart!

  1. I definately agree.

Here in Richmond, we had a bookstore with resident cats, an older cat that lounged in the front window all day long and more recently younger ones. Their last cat was so friendly that one time I lent down to get a book when he was on top of the bookcase and he thought it was a signal and hopped on my shoulder. Luckily, he was either declawed or very talented. I ended up browsing for about 15 minutes with him laying across my shoulders and me petting him in between books.

  2. There's a place here called Bullies In A China Shoppe that sells various items. They have a dog named Tarquin who is usually there. It really does make me wanna buy.

  3. My hubby and I are in agreeance that dogs should be featured in more advertisements. Remember that Nissan ad several moons ago w/ the dude saying, "Dogs love trucks." So made me want to buy a Nissan. But I was 12 at the time, and it wouldn't have done me any good.

  4. Dogs DO NOT belong in retail stores. I don't want to walk into a store and have to deal with a dog at my feet sniffing around. Sorry, but not everyone likes dogs and they shouldn't have to deal with the intrusion while shopping. Besides, some people are allergic to pets.

  5. while your last commenter seemed much more adamant, i have to agree with him/her. i am an animal fanatic, but having a strange dog approach me, even with a wagging tail and drooling tongue, is a bit scary at first. (perhaps i've been chased by one too many dogs) a lounging cat however, i'm more than happy to see. the 911 communication centre in a city i used to work for had a resident cat, they called her CC (get it, Comm Centre) har har.

  7. Hi! Yes, dogs in shops are awesome! About Bullies in a China Shoppe- their store is fabulous. For the anonymous guy or gal who's nervous about animals - Tarquin is in a pen so he is not bothersome to customers. As far as allergies go, get a life. Please- there are allergens everywhere and just like the old tv censorship debate... you have a choice not to go! This is AMERICA, baby! I love small businesses with charming mascots!
