Spam Musubi

I have been thinking about spam musubi since we were in Hawaii. It didn't seem to hard to make but we never got around to it.

I even ordered a spam musubi mold online. It's just the right size for a slice of spam. It worked really well, making perfect blocks of rice. Other than cooking the rice, this recipe is really quick and easy to make. I just turned on the rice cooker and we took the pugs for a walk and when we got back I was ready to roll.

  1. Spam musubi is one of my guiltiest pleasures. I ate it as a kid, didn't eat spam for probably 20 years, and then had it again a couple summers ago when visiting relatives in LA. I also bought a musubi mold (mine is a double-wide) and even got the cheesy "Spam slicer" to go with it. The latter is a wire cutter device that neatly cuts it into 9 (?) even slices. My husband, who gladly eats a Taylor pork roll, is afraid of Spam. More for me, then! :)

  2. We made them using the empty SPAM can as a mold.

  3. Sara - How did you get it out? Did you cut out the bottom of the can so you could push it through? SPAM should totally market their cans for this pupose!
