I was admiring the ripple blanket made over on Posie Gets Cozy and then was equally impressed when she jumped right into a granny square blanket when I remembered something...

When I was home for the holidays, my grandma gave me an unfinished granny square blanket she got from my great aunt. Jackpot! One third of the squares are finished, two thirds need the tan edging and then all the squares need stitched together.

The colors might not be exactly what I would have chosen, but having the project kick started for me is so worth it. A lot of work has already been done, yet there is enough work that when I finish it I can still claim that I made (part) of it! I just need to get a square to the store to buy matching tan yarn. Hmmm... maybe I am going to discover why my great aunt stopped in the middle.

Hey, does that turquoise in the center of the granny squares match your "Tiffany's blue" staircase? Maybe you could work out a decorating project from the squares?

I love Granny Squares. They are so cute and are the only things that I have the patience to crochet. Back in the summer I started making my fiance a granny square blanket, but of course life took over and as of right now I have four squares... I hoping to get back to it when I graduate and have more time. Good luck on your project!

If you ended up getting a color other than tan, a coordinating color, then you could lay out the squares in some kind of pattern - a checkerboard or diagonally, kind of like that baby blanket in Last Minute Knitted Gifts.

anonymous- the Two's Company website only sells online to retail stores... I couldn't find this particular bag online anywhere, but this site does have the previous monogram version...
bags
it costs much more than the version I got though...

You go, girl! I was all revved up about making a scrap yarn granny square blanket, after seeing this awesome one on craftster ( http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=113390.msg1237540#msg1237540 ), and this cool scrap yarn blanket ( http://belladia.typepad.com/bella_dia/2006/11/vintage_vertica.html ), and I even bough a bunch of yarn for my "scrap" yarn ;), but I only made one and a half squares. Someday I'm going to do it!

I love that blanket on craftster... more like a granny hexagonal blanket (or something) than a granny square... so nice!

Thanks to you, I got bitten by the crochet bug again. LOL! I've done granny square afghans before. I loved making the squares...but always dreaded seaming them together. I guess mainly because I can't sew to save my life. Heh...

I just ordered the yarn to make myself a ripple afghan.
