Easy Crème Brûlée

So this might be in direct conflict with a garbage plate, but after we had homemade garbage plates during the Super Bowl... we had crème brûlée. Granted it was a ready-to-make mix from Pittsford Farms Dairy but it doesn't exactly go with a garbage plate.

But who is going to say no to crème brûlée?

S'mores Dip

A friend on Facebook pointed out this genius idea. S'mores Dip.

It's so easy. A layer of chocolate chips topped with marshmallows cut in half, popped in a 450 degree oven for 5 to 10 minutes. Then dig in with graham crackers.

If you are feeling fancy add peanut butter chips or caramel. So good!

Kitty Litter Dessert for April Fool's Day

Yesterday morning at the office we all got an email in our inbox that our co-worker Chuck had brought in a special dessert to share. Not one to miss out on a treat I skittered out of my cubicle to check it out. This pan of "kitty litter" is what I found.

Isn't is GRRRROOOSSSS?! Ha ha we dug into anyhow! What craftsmanship with the kitty poo! It was very tasty! We all got a big kick out of Chuck's April Fool's Kitty Litter Dessert. It's made from cake crumbles, pudding and vanilla cookies. I found the recipe online for anyone that wants to yuck out their friends and family too.

Getting our 2013 Christmas tree... in the dark

Am I the only one taken by surprise by the shorter amount of time between Thanksgiving and Christmas? With less time and more things going on, we had no choice but to get our Christmas tree on a weeknight.

The night was not going to slow us down. It's a yearly tradition with the Clarks! We hiked out into the field at Wilbert's and picked out a tree in the dark.

Well, the Clarks were going to buy a tree off the lot but then Lauren spied this one she really wanted.

And so both Aaron and Charlie cut down Christmas trees in the dark with us holding flashlights.

Still fun and lots of good memories.

Tina cooked this year and she made this amazing crock pot lasagna.

Christmas tree cutting is not complete without our annual peppermint brownie sundaes! Aaron and I rolled home full as toads.

Skillet cookie

We were going to go out for dessert but couldn't think of a spot that had exactly what we wanted so I made a batch of chocolate chip cookie dough and baked in a cast iron skillet. I especially like this little one baked in a wee number three skillet.

Warm out of the oven with a scoop of salted caramel ice cream!

Red Hot Jello

I have been meaning to make this Red Hot Jello recipe for some time now. It reminded me of a dish we had with Aaron's family once. It seems like a fun dessert to make around Valentine's Day.

The ingredients, red hot candies, strawberry jello and apple sauce sound strange... but really it's more like cinnammon jello with texure. Tasty!
