Disgust

Last night Aaron ran into Blockbuster for a video while I waited in the car. It was raining and I had just torn my skirt so I sat there and sulked. While he was in the store I watched people come and go.

Now I think smoking is a horrible habit, but far be it from me to tell someone what to do with their body. I was sickened however when I noticed the woman in the car next to me smoking in the front seat while a small child sat in the back. I suppose she couldn't get out or open a window because of the rain... but puh-lease! How many commercials and billboards do there have to be about second hand smoke and children before it sinks in?

Then I saw a man approach the entrance, pause by the door and throw his half smoked cigarette onto the ground A FOOT AWAY from the cigarette disposal can. The gall! The cigarette smoked and sizzled there on the ground. Lovely. Did he not get the "Don't be a litterbug" speech in elementary school?

These both appeared to be mild mannered, intellegent people who just left the office in their chinos and khakis. But their actions... I don't know maybe I am overreacting. But I am also upset I didn't do anything. What would they have done if I had confronted them? Tapped on her window and told her she was killing her child. Or went in and told the guy to go pick up his cigarette butt.
