I planted my vegetable garden last week and it's a good thing. We have been having torrential downpours off and on ever since. I stand at my window and tell the seeds and plants.... "Yesss... yesss... dreeeeenk.... dreeeenk."

I am growing dill, cauliflower and broccoli for the first time... not sure how that will turn out. I am just hoping not to have a mistaken identity swiss chard/rhubarb incident like I did last year. Grrrrrrrr.

  1. oh, i wish i still had a garden!! i tried to grow broccoli once and it didn't work at all, it was eaten by slugs before it ever got a chance of growing... dill is yummy and easy to grow though! good luck!

  5. I am growing dill right now and it is very easy. The tip I can give you is it likes lots of water. LOTS of water, which from the sounds of it, it's getting a good start.

  6. I can't wait to see the (pardon the pun) FRUITS of your labor. I want to plant a garden, I just need to get my husband to dig out all the rocks in our backyard first! Any tips you could offer a first time gardener would be sincerely appreciated!

  8. THe brocolli is going great guns here (we also grew cabbage and kale - no cauliflower cuz it's not our fave.) Just remember to tie up those cauli. leaves to blanch it if it's not the self blanching type (leaves naturally curl up adn aroudn the flower head)
