I am not going to mince words... I have a lot of shoes. And when I get dressed in the morning it can be a challenge to find just the right pair. It was so sad when I would go through all the boxes and discover a pair I totally forgot I had.

So I embarked on a Shoe Organization and Recognition project. I took pictures of all my shoes, printed them out and taped them to the boxes. It has improved dress time significantly. I also enjoy opening my closet and surveying my shoe domain.

I uploaded a few instructional photos to my project gallery.

  1. I've wanted to do something like this. I wanted to get clear shoe boxes to organize with, just haven't gotten around to it yet. Your organization skills are inspiring. :-)

  3. I did the clear shoe boxes thing. Your idea is much cuter, though.

  4. This is so cute! And a really, really good idea. I can't believe how many shoes you have, though... :)

When I came to Quebec, I planned on staying for two weeks. That's why I brought only two pairs of shoes... Now, a year later and still here, I have extended my collection to five pairs... I have a long way to go before I need to organize them the way you have done! hehe

By the way, do you always keep the boxes? I always, always throw them away. They're so bulky!

  6. I also organize my shoes in types as well! It helps when I'm looking for something sporty or dressy.

  9. I have a couple of cheap press-board shelves I got at target that have little cubbies in them. Each pair gets its own cubby - and you can see all of them without having to deal with the boxes.

Sad thing is, even though I have 2 whole cubbies (with about 30 slots), I have to throw all my off-season shoes in a box and stuff them in the back of the closet for the summer.
