This is the view of our office parking lot today. Looks quiet doesn't it?

The thing I like about winter... not just the snowboarding, ice skating and making fires in the fireplace... is how it can make you slow down. Or at least it tries.

I didn't make any big resolutions this New Years. But I would like to make an effort to slow down a little. I want more time to read books, watch films, sip tea, answer emails, write letters, organize my cupboards, work on crafty things and cook slow food.

  1. This is such a sweet post. I couldn't agree more with your sentiment. I need to slow down a little bit, too!

  2. I agree that it's good to do those things, but sometimes i feel like it's all the extra things that i try to do that make me feel like i'm NOT slowing down. i'm speeding up just to get to the extras.

  4. I've been reading a lot about this movement after a lady came into my work looking for some information about Slow Living. It's wonderful! Basically gives a name to what I've been hoping for my life these past few months. :)

I want to stop and smell the roses from now on, so to speak!

P.S. It's stinking hot here in Australia!

  5. You should read Carl Honore's "In Praise of Slow." My boyfriend read it last year and has been praising it ever since. The author talks about how to balance living in a fast-paced world by incorporating periods of slow into your life.

  6. That was my resolution as well! "Slow Down". And looking at this picture, all I could think was, "I hope she didn't have to park all the way at the far end of the lot!"
