floor

We are home in PA for Thanksgiving. I wish our drive to my parent's house took us past Erie. On our way back from Cleveland a few months ago, we were going through Erie where I noticed a sign for a Steak 'n Shake. It sounded good I persuaded Tina to stop. Apparently Steak 'n Shake was founded in Normal, Illinois in 1934. (I wish I could say I was from Normal, Illinois)

The burgers were good, but what really blew me away was their shakes. I especially liked the Side-by-Side Shake. It's two flavors in one glass! Brilliant! I had dark chocolate shake and banana shake. By merely moving my straw from one side of the glass to the other I could switch flavors. Genius.

    I AM from Normal, Illinois!! And my husband used to work at Steak & Shake! What a small world. :)

    I live a half hour from Normal, Illinois and we have a Steak N' Shake about a mile from our house. Dangerous, indeed. Especially around Halloween when they come out with their seasonal Caramel Apple Shake.

    Erie is totally worth a weekend trip, there is some fun things to check out. Jelly Belly Store, Splash Lagoon, the beach, Station Dinner Theater, the zoo, the list really does go on.

    Oooh I love Steak & Shake. We went to one a few years ago near Orlando. They also sell Cinncinati Chili!

    Another St. Louis person here, and I too love Steak and Shake. Glad you found it. I second the comment about the Caramel Apple shake, seriously good.

    I'm originally from St. Louis where Steak N Shake has been since I was a child. My dad lives in Vermont and a few years ago he made me bring a cooler of Steak N Shake double bacon cheeseburgers on the plane. I can't begin to tell you how disgusting they smelled after the trip...especially with a raging case of morning sickness.

    San Fran Melt at Steak and Shake with a vanilla shake is the best. But to me that is normal since we have them here in Springfield Missouri. But I drool over Wegmans, my husband over heard me talking to a friend from the east coast about Wegmans and he was all excited about a new store to go check out. He wasnt so excited when I told him it would take us over a day to drive there. Wegmans and Krystal, Costco and Ikea.. why cant we get you here!!

    It surprises me that you've never been to a Steak n Shake!! Their cheesefries are so good... oh and their Frisco melt... yum!

    Oh man, I am so hungry for Steak and Shake now. I didn't see the Cinncinati Chili... which I love. Erie is sounding like a fun day trip. Jelly Bellys!!!
