The biggest thing we accomplished Memorial Day weekend was planting our garden. It doesn't look like it bu there are veggies nestled in there. We also planted our window boxes and other flowers.

Aaron also installed a fancy shmancy irrigation system with automatic timer for when we go on vacation. It drips instead of spraying which is much more green as the water does not evaporate into the air. I need to get off my duff and order a rain barrel to hook it up to.

Here is my new old school watering system. I love this watering can! It looks so nice and it works really well.

  1. I have (and love) a rainbarrel, but I just learned that water collected from a roof should not be used for watering food plants. (Whoops, I used it to water the garden and compost piles last year...) Anyway, here's a summary of things that might be in collected water - http://home.comcast.net/~leavesdance/rainbarrels/safety.html
Now I use my collected water just for maintaining bushes and plants around the yard.

  2. your garden looks great! nice job on the irrigation system. was it hard to install? and where did you get it. I'm interested in putting one in my garden.

  3. Your garden is so cute! I love the irrigation system - great idea! I bet you'll save a lot of money on water this year! I hope you'll post regular updates so we can watch your garden grow!!

  4. way to go with your garden and the irrigation israeli style. at least i saw it in israel around the country but it's probably common in every hot country that's trying to save on water..
your garden looks so neat, amazing.

  5. ljc, Have you heard of "squarefoot gardening"? http://www.squarefootgardening.com/I think I might try it next year and I thought you would be interested too, especially with a limited amount of space. Good luck with your garden!
