12 years

Ever since our honeymoon at OBX we celebrate our anniversary at the beach. This is our twelve year anniversary. I came down to breakfast to this surprise.

I had one waiting for Aaron too. I was so excited this year I almost cracked and gave it to him early. Almost.

The modern gift for 12 years is pearls. I LOVE this Mikimoto pearl bracelet Aaron gave me. He does such a good job picking out gifts.

The traditional 12 year gift is silk or linen. I got Aaron a Hickey Freeman sports jacket. (there is silk inside right?!) Hickey Freeman is a suit manufacturer founded in 1899 and still operating in a 77k square foot factory right here in Rochester.

In keeping with the silk theme I also got Aaron a few silk pocket squares to go with his new jacket.

Happy Anniversary to my favorite guy and here's to a wonderful year ahead.

A penny for eleven years

Today was our Eleventh Anniversary and Aaron gave me a turquoise bracelet and necklace since that is the stone for eleven years. He also got me this graphic novel called Soppy, that reminds me of us!

There were beautiful flowers too.

For dinner we ate outside at Richardson's Canal House. These pomme frites were a highlight. Afterwards we went to see San Andreas.

Now back to the gifts.The traditonal gift for eleven years is steel. That is lucky for Aaron because he loves knives and other steel items. I got him this pocket knife from Benchmade. My friend Patricia told me I had to give him a penny with the knife. I had never heard of this tradition before.

It is believed that if you give someone a knife as a gift, it will "sever" the relationship. To remedy this, you give them a penny with the knife which they give back to you as payment, which preserves the relationship.

I think traditions like this are fun so of course I taped a shiny penny to the box. I can't help but think of how many knive have been gifted in my pocket knife collecting family!

Ten year wedding anniversary

Today is Aaron and I's ten year wedding anniversary!

We have wonderful memories of the day spent with friends and family. Like when they decorated Aaron's jeep.

And pelted us with bird-safe, non-slip, rice-like substance.

We were blessed to have all eight of our grandparents with us that day. Something I will always cherish.

It rained on our wedding day but they say that is good luck. At least we got to take this cute photo with a giant umbrella.

I can't believe it has been ten years. It has been an amazing decade. I certainly love him ten times more than the day we got married. I'm looking forward to many more years to come with this guy. More pictures on Flickr.

The ten year anniversary gift is tin... so Aaron got me these tin initials... oh and this gorgeous anniversary ring!

I liked the bunnies in the message Facebook posted congratulating us on our anniversary. They know me well.

Ninth Anniversary: Pottery

Today is Aaron and my nine year anniversary. He got me this beautiful bouquet!

The theme for a nine year anniversary is pottery and since we try and stick to the themes I got Aaron a "clay" target book and Aaron got me a a pottery class at Genesee Center for Arts and Education.

8th Anniversary

Today is Aaron and I's 8th Wedding Anniversary. Traditional gifts for year 8 is brass or lace. Aaron amazingly found a brass and lace necklace!

The beach is a great place to spend an anniversary.

Happy 7th Anniversary Aaron!

Today is Aaron and I's 7th Wedding Anniversary. I found the perfect gift for him.

Aaron loves oversized things. He has a giant pen he likes to take to meetings at work. I saw this giant chair and I knew he would love it. It came with a detatchable cooler and a carrying case with roller wheels.

Heh heh.

Does this count for Day 5 of 30 Days of Creativity? A really creative anniversary gift?!

Sixth Anniversary

Because the gifts for a sixth anniversary are iron or wood or candy... Aaron got me a box of chocolates and this garden gate/trellis! I think it looks so nice on our walkway. We are going to get some wisteria to grow over it. I like how it frames the iron work on our side porch.

fourth anniversary

Today is aaron and my fourth anniversary. We got each other the same pug cards. Fourth anniversary is fruit and flowers. He got me my favorite chocolate bar, a cherry necklace and a flower necklace.
