Rochester Heart Walk

Today Paulette, Tina and I raised money for the American Heart Association by walking in the Heart Walk in downtown Rochester.

It was kinda chilly but it was such a good event. So well organized, good to spend time with friends and good to help a good cause. I am so grateful to everyone that sponsored me for the Heart Walk. Thank you!

St. Baldrick's Head Shaving

Today was the big day! Today was head shaving day! We drove to Syracuse and joined 499 other head shavees. I made sure to get a picture of everyone before...

... and after! These five were awesome, tied on the barbers capes and took to the clippers like champs!

Aaron had a mohawk for a a few seconds.

Aaron met his goal and raised over $1000 for St. Balkdrick's! His head doesn't look too bad without hair either!

Aaron and St. Baldricks

You see the hair in yesterday's post? Getting kinda long huh? Well, next month you can bid it a farewell.

Aaron has signed up to have his head shaved to collect donations for St. Bladrick's Foundation to help fight childhood cancer.

This is a great cause and it's going to be interesting to see this go down. Please support Aaron and the big BZZZZZZZ if you can! I'll be sure to post pics!

Roc the Day

I've been having a little trouble getting into the Christmas spirit. It's been a whirlwind fall and there is a lot on my mind. December popped out of nowhere and I feel like i should have more done... be more aware that Christmas is almost two weeks away.

Then I saw a billboard at Wegmans about Roc the Day. Aaron used the QR code and looked it up right away. I was intrigued. I had been thinking about giving for the holidays. There are book drives, toy funds and bell ringers for the season. But what else?

I was impressed to see that Roc the Day had pulled together a HUGE list of not-for-profits in Rochester and made it incredibly easy to give to them. You can browse through the groups or search for a particular one.

I chose three organizations that are particularly important to me. Genesse Center for Arts and Education, Lollypop Farm and the YWCA. They hit three areas I especially care about - the arts, animals and empowering women.

The Roc the Day site gives descriptions of the choices, with links to their websites, Facebook pages, Twitter accounts and YouTube channels! And you can give to them quickly, easily and securely!

I love Rochester and I appreciate what all these groups do for our community and I am glad I could help out. And that feels right for Christmas.

Sponsor us for Barktober Fest Charity Walk

Oscar and Hugo are professional walkers. It is what they do best. After eating and sleeping that is.

They are going to put their walking skills to good use next Saturday at Lollypop Farm's Barktober Fest.

Oscar and Hugo are going to do the charity walk to raise money to help Lollypop Farm.

Please visit our fundraising page and pledge what you can for our walk! The walk is on the 24th and we have a goal of $300.
