Movie Overload

Aaron and I did something a little nutty today. In case anyone thought I wasn't serious about the "seeing all the Oscar movies" thing...we saw four movies today.

See, it started it out like this. The Cinema downtown shows double features for three dollars. The first show was "Billy Elliott",up for Best Supporting Actress, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay.....cute movie.

Now we paid for two movies, and it would be silly to only see the one, so we stayed for "Best of Show". Aaron hadn't seen it before, but I had seen it twice. That was alright though, 'cause I had just seen Christopher Guest's other two movies "Spinal Tap" and "Waiting for Guffman" last weekend, so it was interesting to compare.

We could have stopped there. We could have been satisfied with two movies. But the next two features were "Shadow of a Vampire" and "Snatch". At intermission we ran down to Ming's Noodle and grabbed spring rolls and beef noodles then hot footed it back to the theatre.

Willem Dafoe is up for Best Supporting Actor in "Shadow of a Vampire", a movie about the making of "Nosferatu" in 1921. I need to see that movie now. "Snatch" is the Guy Ritchie (the Brit married to Madonna) movie about a diamond heist. It's a fast moving film with a lot of shooting and a dog that swallows a squeeky toy. At least that was my favorite part.

Yep. Four movies in a day. I smell like popcorn.
