Today Chuck, Tina, Aaron and I took a daytrip to Ithaca for an end of birthday week celebration. I have been wanting to eat at Moosewood Restaurant for quite some time. It seemed a shame we live so close this world renowned restaurant and have never eaten there.

We spent the afternoon strolling through the shops and then had dinner at Moosewood. It being a vegetarian restaurant, we made ourselves nervous that we would unthinkingly ask for a pork chop or side of beef and get kicked out. Aaron did manage to request ice cream for his vegan apple torte, thus making it a non-vegan apple torte.

On a side note, we were browsing through a book store when the clerk asked me... "Do you have a web page?" All my social skills go out the window. "Are you ljc?" *blink- blink* I had no idea what to say. Aaron jumped in and spoke on my behalf, seeing as how I was unprepared for any recognition outside of the blog world. It's never happened before, and now I feel as though I need to be better prepared for such a situation. The clerk, Stef, was very nice ( I did have the where with all to ask if she had a site). I now wonder how many people out there have maybe seen me out and about? I hope I was on my best behaviour and not mumbling to myself or anything.

  1. I went to Ithaca College and I miss that beautiful town. If you get a chance in the summertime - go back! You must hike the gorges. After all, 'Ithaca is Gorgeous'! (Did you see that bumper sticker on everyone's car?) And don't you feel famous! Maybe people will ask you for your autograph!

  2. Haha! I just hope I didn't come across as all stalker-ish or anything. If you had come in alone, I probably wouldn't have recognized you, but your whole group together must have just fired some neurons for me. And I always remember fans of Wegmans. By the way, it's good I did recognize you or you might have gotten surly behavior from ME! I'm biding my time until my last day there on 6/8 and boy, I can't wait. Being blog paparazzi amused me for the rest of the day, though!

  7. I'm a vegetarian and the Moosewood cookbook is the handiest thing ever! There is a delicious hummus and tabouli recipe in there, mmmm. Plus the drawings in the cookbook are so cute...

  8. Yay Ithaca! How was Moosewood? I was commenting Friday that next time I am in Elmira, my family should pop up and finally eat at Moosewood. Any recommendations?

  15. LOL- leave it to an Ithacan to recognize ya' :) My vote as a long time resident? The Chariot - the garlic bread and a nice cold soda is a meal! :) Well, at least for me. If you're ever back on the Commons you should check out Ten Thousand Villages - it's great...I think you'd like it.

  16. That is too funny, you getting recognized and all. I visited the place in January, and had a bit of trouble getting around because of the snow. I had originally wanted to order some seafood dish, but was told they were all out of it, so I ordered Russian Peasant Pie instead. Then a couple came in and was seated at the table next to mine. One of them asked for the Russian Peasant Pie and was told they were out, so he ordered the seafood dish. I was like, "hey, that was supposed to be mine," and I think he was thinking the same thing.
