It's been almost a year since Aaron gave me a violin for my birthday. With something always coming up, scheduling lessons were put off and put off again. Better late than never, today I had my first lesson.

My musical experience has been limited to the recorder in fourth grade. My teacher has his work cut out for him.

I obediently came home and practiced this evening... taki taki stop stop... down bow and up bow and down bow... jack rabbit eats carrots....

  1. Good for you! Someday, I would like to play the piano—it's never too late.

  2. As someone who's been playing violin since 1986, feel free to email me if you get stumped on something. I think it's cool that you're taking lessons to learn how to play!

  3. Good luck with your lessons. I started playing the violin when I was in the fifth grade. I stopped a few years into college. Every now and then I get it out to play a few songs for my daughter.

  4. Good luck! I've been playing violin for almost 9 years, and there are a lot of times when I get sick of it, but it really is rewarding! It's fun to be able to play, even something simple.
