I was wandering around CVS when I noticed a display stand of Big Ox Oxygen canned oxygen. It came in two "flavors"... Mountain Mint and Tropical Breeze.

Apparently it can help you keep up your energy partying all night or give you a boost when you are climbing Mount Everest. All this by... "Restoring higher oxygen levels in the blood can promote an increase in energy and alertness so you can work harder, play longer and perform better."

I have to say I was intrigued but at $20 a can I passed. I see online it is one for $15 or two for $25. Still not sure. Could you get addicted to the extra energy and alertness? I could also see a tragic incident with a can full of pure oxygen, a match, a spark or lighter.... yikes.

  1. I can't help but be reminded of that scene in Spaceballs with the President at his desk sniffing the can of Perri-Air and telling his constituents that there is no air quality problem.

  2. hmmmm. I think you can get the same effect (increase the oxygen saturation of your blood) by taking lots of very deep, slow breaths.

  3. My fiance said when he went to Europe he went to an oxygen bar there where you paid to be served pure oxygen. Funny they're selling it in cans too...

  5. I am going to try to make a cake for a baby shower and I know you are a master of cakes so I looked on your project page for a little help. Where do you get the fondant icing at?

  6. One word, snake oil. I'm a Respiratory therapist and if you are a health, young person, there is actually no added benefit in "extra" oxygen. Save your money and buy Oscar a new toy instead.

  7. I used to go to oxygen bars. It was pretty expensive ($1 a minute) and did nothing for me. I kept going because I had friends who loved it, and I really wanted to love it too. If you can find an O bar near you, I'd reccomend it at least once. It's an interesting experience!
