Peapod for Earth Day

I saw a link for Chrysler's Peapod last week and I have been waiting for today, Earth Day, for it to be unveiled. It's electric... no gas, no emissions and is the only thing that comes close to Aaron's Smart Car in cuteness. I mean really, it looks like it has a funky little smiley face on the front.

The peapod has a top speed of 25 mph, can run 30 miles on a charge, takes 6 hours to fully recharge, costs only 2 cents a mile to run and is made almost entirely of recycled materials! Oh yeah you can use your iPhone to turn it on!

I love the different versions you can get! Curious what I could haul in the back of a Utilitypod.

  1. I thought of your Smart car when I saw the Peapod segment on the Today Show this morning. Matt Lauer got to ride one, lucky guy!

  2. Top speed of 25 mph? Is it a golf cart? I mean, its great that it's so green and all, but 25 mph doesn't offer much for everyday use.

  3. yep, I hate to say it, but it's a golf cart. A really cute, sweet one. But a golf cart. The part that creeps me out is that Peter Arnell (the creator) is so egocentric, PEA are his initials!

  4. I saw it on the Today show this morning. I loved it right down to the smile in the front. From what I heard, they start at about $12,000 and can be ordered starting in October. I don't mind the 25 mph. It's perfect for me during the week with the kids and errands. Yeah, we have a lot of golf carts on the streets here in Arizona. Really.

  5. It's a glorified golf cart. Perfect for retirement community living, not so perfect for suburban living.
