Lakeside city of Thun, Switzerland

After a few days in Bern, our next stop in Switzerland is the lake side town of Thun.

Thun is about 30 minutes away from Bern, a little smaller but very cute. Near our hotel was Scherzligen Church which dates back to 760!

The center of Thun is an island with canals running on both sides.

We took a walking tour of the town and had to stop and take pictures of these wood covered bridges.

These swans showed up just in time for the photo.

Our walking tour took us past Stadtkirche Thun, the town church built in the 14th century.

Really what I was most excited visiting this area was the castles. There are several of them around Lake Thun and I told Aaron the next few days are going to be all castles all the time. The first one we ran into was Schloss Thun.

It was built between 1180 and 1190 and now has a museum inside.

What blew me away was that we were able to go all the way up to the top of the turrets. Aaron had some trouble fitting through the doors though.

What was outside? A magnificent view of Thun, the lake and the Alps of course.

This is postcard material!

Can you see Aaron peeking out from the tower?
