Yes. I downloaded the Pokémon game and I've tried it out. I caught a Venonat in the Wegmans parking lot.
My mom told me over the phone "Are you playing that game?! Don't walk off a cliff!" I told her I HAD to try it. For my job I have to understand these things!
I did end up referencing it in a Facebook post for the Animal shelter because there is a Poke Stop there. Visit the shelter to catch a Pokemon, go home with a real live critter!
I always have my eye out for what might be the next big app or social media platform. I end up signing up for a lot of things that fizzle out and I eventually delete off my phone.
I clicked on a link I saw on Facebook that was a list of facts about Mr. Rogers. Turns out it was made on The List App.
I LOVE lists! How did I not already know about this? After seeing some of the lists that had been made and how brands and media are using the app, I think it is going to be the next big app.
It's not really the sort of list app where you make your grocery list. It's more like for bucket lists or top ten lists. You can make lists, add comments, add photos, like them, share them, and save them. I started making a few of my own. I have to say, I think some people must be making their lists on their computers and emailing the text to themselves to copy and paste into the app. It drives me nuts typing that much on my phone.

We planted a lot of new bulbs and seeds this past year. Unfortunately sometimes I forget to write down what we plant and it's a bit of a mystery when flowers come up.
I knew this was a cosmos. That was no problem.
This one stumped me. Like a cross between a cosmos and a daisy. Luckily Aaron found an app to help us identify these flowers!
Like That Garden app lets you take a picture of a flower and then it offers up suggestions of what it might be. We use it to identify neighbor's flowers that we like!
Using this app I was able to figure out that the mystery flower is a Chrysanthemum, Tricolor Daisy.
And I also learned that this weird looking daisy is a Crazy Daisy or Leucanthemum.
They aren't wilting. They look like this all the time. Like a daisy that just rolled out of bed.
Ugh, I am sick. The kind of sick where you don't care about anything. Nothing is funny or interesting. My guess is, it's a sinus infection.
If only I had known about this tool. Kleenex created a forecasting model called ACHOO that you can access online. It will predict where germs will strike within the next three weeks.
Looks like Rochester has moderate risk the next three weeks.
If you see your city is going to be in the red with high risk, time to lock yourself inside and wear a mask. The tool also has useful information like how many boxes of tissues you will use in a year and when to call the doctor.
PS - how cool are these Perfect Fit tissue boxes? You know you are sick when you get excited about tissue boxes.
There are a lot of iPhone photo apps out there now... Hipstamatic, Instagram... and now my fav pixlromatic.
It has the most filters and also some effects like bocca and bunch of frames to choose from. It only saves to the phone and uploads to Facebook though - not all the choices like flickr or twitter like some of the other apps, but there are so many effects I'm wiling to just do the sharing from the photo album after downloading.
