I think they are doing a great job with The Muppet Show. There have been scenes that we rewind and watch over and over again. Like this one.

We have made the last step in our journey of Cutting the Cord. The cable cord. While we got rid of cable five years ago, we were still getting our internet through the cable company. Finally, Greenlight Networks came to our neighborhood with fiber internet connection. It offers up to 100 times as fast internet speed as what we were used to but at a fraction of the cost. They came one afternoon and ran the cables and we were up and running. We are so thrilled.
It's a big deal for us because most of the tv we watch is through Roku. Instead of cable we use Hulu, Amazon Prime and Netflix.
What is interesting is the number of exclusive shows each of these services are offering. Much like the show Wet Hot American Summer that we watched a few months ago, Netflix has this movie, The Ridiculous Six streaming only on their service. We like Adam Sandler movies so we watched it. It's not The Magnificent Seven or The Hateful Eight. It's like The Good The Bad and The Ugly combined with Three Amigos and Airplane.
Watching The Ridiculous Six led us to start watching the Rob Schneider series, Real Rob. It is a strange mix of his real life, with his real family and Hollywood life you can hardly believe.
We started watching this other Netflix series Master of None with Aziz Ansari, but it didn't click like Rob's show. Maybe we will try again later.
When we came back after the holidays, it seemed like everyone had watched the Nexflix documentary series Making a Murderer. I usually cannot tolerate crime re-creation shows but there is something to this one that has us hooked.
Amazon also has an orginal series we are watching called Mozart in the Jungle. It's on it's second season and I had not even heard of it until it was up for some Golden Globes and I started seeing ads for it in Instagram.
It's a lot funnier than I expected. I told my violin instructor about it and he said, "I love a good orchestral drama."
And there is The Mindy Project. I nearly threw a fit when The Mindy Project was cancelled last year. I didn't understand how something so funny could be cancelled and Two and Half Men carried on for years and years. Then Hulu came to the rescue and picked it up. Bravo Hulu.
After 34 years, The Muppet Show is back. I grew up watching the original and have been looking forward to seeing the return.
In The Muppets, instead of putting on a show in a theatre, all the Muppets work on the set of a talk show, Up Late with Miss Piggy. I think that is a clever twist. The morning meetings crack me up as the Muppets come together and discuss the previous evening's show and the upcoming one. I wish my office meetings were like Muppet meetings.
When they first started advertising the new Muppet show there was a rumor leak that Kermit and Miss Piggy broke up and Kermit was dating a younger, thinner pig named Denise. I was more upset over this split than the news that Jen and Ben broke up.
I am pretty sure Kermit and Piggy will get back together though.
Just like the old show, The Muppets bring on human guest stars. Elizabeth Banks and Imagine Dragons were great additions to the first episode.
To further continue blasts from my childhood past, on November 6 the new Peanuts movie is being released. I am hoping they do as good of a job with this movie as the return of the Muppets.
There is a cool tool online where you can turn yourself in to a Peanuts character - Peanutize Me. I thought I did a pretty good job making my character but my friend Patricia said it looked nothing like me. Except it was short.
I saw this pretty clever use of Instagram advertising for the NetFlix orginal series Wet Hot American Summer. We like a lot of Paul Rudd's movies (most recently Ant-Man) so decided to check out the first episode. It was kind of bizarro how the role of teenagers was being played by full grown 40-something adult actors but it was pretty funny.
When I went to google it to see who all was in it - it's packed with actors like Amy Poehler, Chris Pine, Bradley Cooper... what I turned up was Wet Hot American Summer the movie. I had no idea. In 2002, Wet Hot American Summer was a released with a younger cast chronicling the last day of a camp in the summer of 1981. We decided to pause the Netflix series and go watch the movie first. Suddenly we were seeing Bradley Cooper in his first feature film... before American Sniper and Silver Linings Playbook.
After watching that, we went back to the Wet Hot American Summer Netflix original series, Star Wars style - because the Netflix Series goes back to the same camp, same summer... but the first day of camp. (Get it? The first three Star Wars movies started at the end of the story?) Anyhoo... it got even stranger to now see the actors as the same characters, but aged 13 years. VERY interesting to see who aged better than others. Honestly Paul Rudd looked nearly the same. Both the movie and the series are goofy and funny and good entertainment during our own hot summer.
Aaron and I just discovered the show Fresh Off the Boat. We binge watched on Hulu until we caught up with the current episode. It is inspired by the narrator's life, Eddie Huang and his book Fresh Off the Boat: A Memoir. I think I need to read his book now.
There are some similarities to my own childhood which makes this even funnier. You know it's a good show when you hit the replay on the Roku remote.
I thought I already had a long day of meetings, a yoga class, a violin lesson and an animal shelter volunteer meeting before I even knew I was invited to attend the viewing party for the Rochester edition of HGTV House Hunters.
For the first time, House Hunters came to Rochester, to follow Mike and Danielle and their Keller Williams Realtor, Susan Glenz, as they looked at three potential new homes.
I was so glad I went! I love looking at houses, and I love seeing Rochester on TV. It was a great episode with a cute and funny couple. Oh and an adorable dog named Sophie who put her request in for a house with a big fenced in backyard.
I don't think I will ever look at glass cupboards and deep sinks the same ever again!
I might be the last one to tune in, but I am finally watching the episodes of Dowton Abbey on Hulu. Oh and I thought it was Downtown Abbey til I saw the beginning credits.
Being a fan of Jane Austen, Bronte sisters, Merchant Ivory etc.. I love Downton Abbey.
There is so much to enjoy on the show but hands down the best character is Pharaoh... the Crawley's labrador. I love how he shows up in the opening credits.
There was even a little bru-ha-ha between the lab actor and the labs that already live the house where the show is filmed!
I am so excited that the second season of Pushing Daisies comes out on DVD on Tuesday the 21st. It's kind of sad too though, since the show is canceled (even though it got five 2009 Emmy nominations). Aaron will probably be really glad to finally be able to delete all the episodes off of the DVR.
Since I was on a tv-screen-picture-taking spree with the Giada pics, I took a picture of the split second that you could see me on the Celebrity Apprentice back in May. Of course I am standing around staring blankly with a glass of cranberry juice and a breadstick in my hand. Classic. Hi Kyle MacLachlan! I liked you in Twin Peaks!
I was watching "Giada at Home" and I noticed when she went to the market she was using the same green Envirosax bag I have!
She loves how it rolls up so small, you can take it anywhere and it's so cute. Just like I do!
I was in NYC last night for the finale of the Celebrity Apprentice.
It meant I was in for a late night of uploading photos, videos and blog posts, but I did meet a few celebs... Scott Hamilton...
... and Jesse James! (who was one of my favorites on the Celebrity Apprentice!)
Now that Giada has a baby girl, she hasn't been doing her show, Giada's Weekend Getaway. I have had to make due with Giada at Home. Not quite as exciting, and I don't think I can go and visit her kitchen like I was able to visit the restaurants she tried on Weekend Getaway. Ah well, at least we get to see her husband Todd running around town picking up supplies.
Tonight is a new epidsode of Pushing Daisies and I hope lots of people watch it. There have been rumors that it might be canceled and I can't bear the thought.
"Save Pushing Daisies" fans encourage mailing ABC packets of daisy seeds. It's kind of challenging to find flower seeds at the store in the middle of November so I made my own. I used the seed packet favor template I designed awhile ago, so it wasn't very hard.
I made extras for my friends to sign and mail in too. If you love Pushing Daisies and want to let ABC know you can download version 1 or version 2 of these Save Pushing Daisies seed packets to mail to ABC.
I had a moment of panic when I realized I forgot the premiere of Pushing Daisies was last Wednesday... then I remembered I could watch it online.
Aaron got me the first season on DVD and he may regret it because I can watch the same episode over and over. Gotta love how the DVD's look like pies!
This weekend, when we were at our favorite breakfast spot... I noticed this on the table. Wednesday is National Pie Day! Pies are starting to edge in a little on cupcakes popularity for me.
We just watched Waitress and she made pies like Mermaid Marshmallow Pie and Falling in Love Chocolate Mousse Pie. Boy was I hungry for pie after that.
And of course, my favorite show Pushing Daisies always had lots of pies at the Pie Hole.
We went to a party this evening for the airing of The Celebrity Apprentice episode featuring Kodak.

And get a load of this! I was standing around munching on chicken wings and next thing I know I am in front of a TV camera. I was on the 11 o'clock news chattering away! Crazy!
Everyone at the office is very excited about tomorrow night's episode of The Celebrity Apprentice.
The task is going to feature the Kodak All-in-One Inkjet printers and it is going to be awesome.

A few weeks ago I went to see a pop up book exhibit at RIT with Aprille and her husband. It was so cool, there were giant examples of the different sorts of techniques.
Soon after I saw a commercial for Lexus where the car is in a pop up book. Then I saw another commercial for TGI Fridays with a pop up menu. Recently Fergie came out with a video where she is inside a pop up book.
But the best one.... my favorite show... Pushing Daisies had an episode where they suspected a pop up book author of murder. Some of his books were "The Pop Up Book of Sports Related Deaths" and "Pop Up Pin Up". I love that show.
Last night I got a text from Tina asking if I was watching The Office and if I noticed the Wegman's milk in the opening scene. Sure enough, Wegman's products are showing up on the show... read more about it on the welovewegmans blog.
Have you ever seen Giada's Weekend Getaway? She has the sweetest set up... she gets to travel to cool spots and eat! I have watched every episode... taking notes as I watch.
When she traveled to Newport, Rhode Island, she tooled around in one of these Scoot Coupes. One of these would be great to drive to work in... and cute.
In Chicago she went to Orange where she had frushi. She also ate a piece of french toast kabob from the plate of the girl sitting next to her at the bar.
How does one go about getting job where they go somewhere every weekend and strangers let you eat off their plate?
