Shruti and I went to see the houses in Homearama. I have always favored older homes for their character but I was impressed with these new homes too. They have great floor plans... big open spaces like great rooms, speakers built into the ceiling, huge walk-in closets and second floor laundries.

Two of our favorite houses was a beach themed home and a Parisian themed home. The Parisian home was painted in muted blues and greens and the kitchen was filled with pastel colored baked goods. Look at the spread on the dining room table.

I took a few pictures of my favorite highlights and they are on my Gallery.

  1. For a second there I thought it was a photo from another neat looking get together you were hosting or going to. From the pics I saw I wish I could combined all the rooms to make one fab house.

  2. Thanks for sharing. I love to go on home tours. Something about new houses though that seems so, I don't know...sterile. Too much perfection makes me nervous.

  4. We went to Homearama last week, and we went to Rose's Corner Bakery in Canandaigua on the way home. I got myself a nice chocolate frosted cupcake to make up for the ones I couldn't have in the house!

  5. In that huge award-winning bathroom there's something that bothers me: the toilet seat is up! Sometimes I'll see that in home decor mags and it drives me crazy! It's kinda a pet peeve of mine. Put down the seat!!

  6. foodiechickie - I would like to set up a scene like that in my dining room!

elaine - that would be good feedback for the designers

melissa - the colors were great!

olivia - I am envious... the pastries looked delicious!

anonymous - that is funny... maybe a visitor put it up

  7. You know... now that I think about it... in some of the houses they had the toilet lid tied to the seat with a ribbon. Was that to keep people from lifting the lid? Or maybe using it? Ewwwww!

  8. Le Maison (Parisian house) was my parents and my favorite house too. The layout, colors, and sizes of the rooms were very nice.

My mom and I made several disparaging comments about the horrible layout of some of the kitchens in the other houses. Who in their right minds puts a sink on one counter, the stove on the opposite counter, and then an island in between? And I won't even get into the wasted space in most of the new homes.

However, it was nice to see the latest technologies in house construction. I now dream of pantries and wine cellars.
