We finally got to the RoCo (Rochester Contemporary) to use the Art O Mat (one of several cigarette machines renovated to dispense art). This is what I got....

I call it my angry block.

  1. I was so excited to find one of those ... after reading about it on the internet. But after two tries, I was pretty disappointed with the "art" that I got ... I dunno, it just seemed weird (a bug cast in resin and something else that i don't even remember). But I love the idea! And I would dearly love to have my own machine to put in my living room and stock with weird stuff.

  2. I saw one of these at The scrap exchange in Durham, NC. I didn't realize it was such a phenomenon. I didn't get a piece of artwork - I think it was charging about $5. I wasn't really clear on what was going to come out of the machine, so I didn't risk it at the time! Maybe I'll have to try it.

  3. I've never heard of such a wacky thing. I'll have to see if they have them here in LA. Thanks for sharing. Love your blog.

    Cheers!

  4. Oh gosh, I've been reading about Art-O-Mats for years. I've never been lucky enough to find one though. I dream about the day...
