Easter dance

Couldn't resist these Easter solar toys from the Dollar Tree to put on my kitchen window sill.

Ooocha ooocha. Easter's comin'. *shimmy shimmy*

I think the chick peep is especially funny.

Solar powered spookies

My blog is starting to sound like a Dollar Tree ad, but I can't help myself. We go there for basic items like bulldog clips or rolls of craft paper. Then every once in awhile I find something really cute. Like these Halloween solar toys. I really like the ongoing action, but I also spend too much time moving them around into bright spots so they keep going.

Went a little crazy over the solar toys at the Dollar Tree. #halloween

Actually I have been on the lookout for these for awhile. I spied them on someone's desk a year ago, but every time I went to Dollar Tree they were sold out. This time when I saw them, I got one of each kind.

Drone shots of solar array

My friend Aprille has been volunteering with the not-for-profit organization ROCSPOT, which is working to transform Rochester into a city powerd by solar technology.

ROCSPOT was holding a neighborhood informational meeting at the Bausch and Lomb Solar Farm. Aaron brought his drone to shoot some video and photos of the solar panels.

Bausch and Lomb's solar array is made up of 3,667 panels. It's largest in the region and can generate 1.12 gigawatt/hours of electricity to the company's facility. I didn't get a good sense of how big it was from the ground until I saw Aaron's pictures. Pretty impressive.
