After several years of knitting only square items, I have finally broken out of my comfort zone and started a pair of mittens. The first one is finished and the second one might be done by the time it snows. I am so pleased.

What reference did you use to learn how to knit on double-pointed needles? I so want to try it, but can't seem to find any instructions. I too wish to venture out my "scarves only" rut.

The first mitt looks great - love the colour!

I hated working with double pointed needles, so I learned the Magic Loop method. Just Google Magic Loop to learn.

And that is a very nice mitt! My first one was absolute junk.

I broke out and learned mittens last year - I was ridiculously proud of myself! Look at this thumb! And yesterday, I started a SOCK class. Love your mitten - it's gorgeous!

awesome mittens so cute! i'm making a pair using thick/thin yarn and it might have too many gaps. can't figure out the directions for finishing the thumb though, so i'm in awe of yours :)

oh, and to a commenter, knittinghelp.com is awesome for figuring out knitting techniques. especially double pointed needles.

Wow, looks professional to me. Good job. Someday I will try to learn to knit.

Great job! I love to knit...but shy away from projects that require double pointed needles. I love the color! I need to look up the Magic Loop technique to see how it goes.
