Cold brew options

I have a pretty good method for making cold brew coffee, so I didn't really need this can of Grady's Cold Brew, but the can totally sold me.

You can also get the concentrate in a bottles or sign up for a coffee club to keep a steady stream of caffiene shipped to your home.

Look at these instruction illustrations on the can! So good.

You can follow Grady's Cold Brew on Facebook | Twitter | Instagram

Speaking of liquid cold brew concentrate in a bottle I found this Muddy Waters Cold Brew at Wegmans. It is made right here in Rochester! It's pretty good too. It's a nice option with the #shoplocal bonus.

I am curious if they are affiliated with the Muddy Waters Coffee House that used to be in the South Wedge, but I haven't figured that out yet.

They are on Facebook and Twitter.

Ball Jar Mason Jar Accessories - Infused Water

Sometimes I really think Martha reads my blog. (I can dream can't I?) A few months ago there was an article in Living about... Ball Jars! I am now waiting for something on pie pans... (which are the new mason jar)

You know what I like as much as mason jars? Mason jar ACCESSORIES. I found these mason jar straw lids and water infuser at Wegmans this summer.

The straw lids were perfect for my summer iced coffee.

And the infuser helped me increase my water intake. I really got into coming up with creative fruit combinations. Mango and blueberry.

Mint and strawberry. So refreshing!

The Ball Jar website lists some combos too. Like... blackberry sage, pineapple mint, cucumber orange and watermelon basil.

BuzzFeed has a great list of fruit infusion combos too.

Cold brewed coffee & Sparky

It was so warm yesterday it seemed time to start making cold brewed coffee for summer iced coffee.

Of course it was sixty degrees today but the iced coffee was still good.

I made a discovery that regular pint mason jars do not fit in Sparky's cupholders except for the door ones.

A quick switch to the pint quilted jelly jars and we were back in business.

Cold Brew Coffee

I knew cold brewing coffee was next on my summer coffee adventure but I thought it would be difficult. I was looking at this recipe and hem hawed around because I didn't have anything like the bins that were used.

Then someone tweeted me this cold brewed coffee recipe and saw they were just using a jar. A jar?! Well, that is right up my alley!

Cold-Brewed Iced Coffee:

1/3 cup ground coffee

1 & 1/2 cups of water

Mix coffee and water together in a jar and let sit at room temperature for 12 hours. Strain and mix equal parts coffee to water. Add milk and ice.

I practically quadrupled the recipe so I could have a big batch for the week. It really was easy and I was surprised at how smooth the coffee turned out. Went great with my coffee ice cubes!

Iced Thai Coffee

Kicking things up a notch this morning by adding sweetened condensed milk to our iced coffee to make iced Thai coffee. It's not hard at all. I start with regular coffee chilled in the fridge mixed with coffee ice cubes. Then I mix in two tablespoons of the sweetened condensed milk. (condensed milk makes me think of the scene in the English Patient where he is slurping it from a can with a straw)

Oh ho ho is it good! I usually have to put lots of sugar in my coffee, but not with this added. Yum!

Coffee ice cubes

We are having a heat wave so it's time to switch over to iced coffee. After seeing a tip online, I froze a batch of ice cubes made from coffee for ours.

This way, when the ice cubes melt... they don't water down your coffee.

I also made some coffee to keep in a carafe in the fridge. Mix that with some coffee ice cubes, vanilla syrup and milk...

ahhhh.... refreshing!

I found some other coffee inspiration online so there will more java posts to come!
