Fall tablecloth - with owls

I bought this fall fabric a year ago with the intention of making an autumn tablecloth and it somehow got lost in my craft room.

I found it during a cleaning session and immediately got my sewing machine out before it could disappear again. It's not a hard task to hem fabric on a tablecloth, but it is a lot of material so there is a lot of tugging and wrestling on my behalf when I do it.

Now I have a tablecloth perfect for that transition between summer to Halloween. Someone asked me "Are owls fallish?" I don't know, but I'm campaigning for it!

Short sleeves

I have made a troubling discovery. There is a lack of women's short sleeve button up shirts. They are simply not to be found. I took matters into my own hands and bought these very cute, but very long sleeved button up shirts at Target and made them into short sleeve shirts myself.

Love the whale one. Looks great with my whale earrings.

Sewing afternoon

I have discovered that there are practically no short sleeved, button up shirts for women. So I got a long sleeved one at Target and made it short sleeved myself. While I had the sewing machine out I worked on some other projects...

... like this room divider curtain.

It was so big I had to sew on the floor. This brought the critics around. Look at his face... "This is crooked. Move over and let me do it. Shameful."

This project didn't require any sewing. I made one of Aaron's shirt into a beach cover-up.

I found an excellent use for the sleeves I trimmed off. Nailed it.

New Pet Bed

I got some cute bike patterned fleece to make a new pet bed. Stewie thought the fabric was good before I even started sewing.

I love sewing fleece... no hemming.

This is what I have to look at while I'm sewing. "Are you done with my bed yet? Are you done with my bed yet?"

Stewie was the first to try it out.

Hugo looks tiny in it.

It's big enough to fit all of them.

Big winner via Martha

I was a big winner on Twitter! I entered the @CraftsDept #MarthaBlogger Sweeps and won this Martha Stewart sewing book!

It will be put to good use!

I also entered the @dailywag #marthablogger sweeps and won a box of goodies for Oscar!

Oscar was beside himself with his good fortune. Aren't the colors nice? Now he can nom nom in style!

Overlock Machine

I just got around to using the overlock machine Aaron got me for Christmas. It works like a dream! I got it out to sew together a baby bundler blanket for Shruti and it worked so well I looked around for something else to sew.

I had this Easter material so I made a tablecloth too.

What did I do before I had the overlock machine?!
