Red, white & blue summer garb

My standard summer uniform has been made up of red, white and blue.

Shorts and patterned shirts... all in red or white or blue.

Sometimes I like to mix it up and flip flop it. Patterned shorts and solid shirt. Still in red, white and blue. Definitely summer colors.

Lularoe leggings - buttery soft

One of our local clothing stores, Peppermint, carries a line of clothes called Lularoe. I just got a pair of the leggings and they - are - as - soft - as - buttah. I spent the day at work telling my friends at work "Touch my leg. No, no. Pet it. SOFT RIGHT?!"

Local tees

I liked my Maker's Faire t-shirt from Tiny Fish so much when I spied a Tiny Fish t-shirt at Pour Coffee Parlor. Not only are they cute and comfy, but I like supporting local biz.

I think the Scratch Bakeshop "tough cookies" shirt is next on my list.

Critter leggings for fashion and warmth

With this cold weather, I'm turning cozy up to eleven. I found these fox sweater leggings at Target. It's like wearing a sweater... on your legs.

Leave it to me to find multiple articles of clothing with critters on them. Another pair of leggings found at Target, this time with rabbits and again, foxes. The foxes are a little hard to see.

Note the "find a great pair of shoes and buy them in multiple colors" habit strikes again. These booties... in black suede.

Short sleeves

I have made a troubling discovery. There is a lack of women's short sleeve button up shirts. They are simply not to be found. I took matters into my own hands and bought these very cute, but very long sleeved button up shirts at Target and made them into short sleeve shirts myself.

Love the whale one. Looks great with my whale earrings.

Park Ave Fest 2014

Tina and I were especially excited to go to the Park Ave Festival this year because while I was at Henry's Kettle Korn stand during the Lilac Festival, one of his assistants mentioned he would be back for the Park Ave Fest. A first I think!

We also swung by the Le Petit Poutine truck so I could get brunch poutine!

I was excited to see Peppermint had a sidewalk sale and managed to add two more anchor patterned items to my wardrobe. Shorts and a dress. Ahoy!

Summer outfits

I have caved to the colored jeans again. These make me look like mint chocolate chip ice cream.

I'm liking indigo for the summer too.

Neon Summer

I feel a neon kick coming on for summer. It's like a flashback to my eighties. I had neon shoelaces, highlighters and rubber bracelets. I love this neon pink nail polish from Essie. I am on the hunt for the perfect neon orange too.

I have been saving this outfit for warm weather. Orange jeans (I didn't think I would jump on the colored jean trend after going through that in the eighties also, but here I am) and a lobster t-shirt. New sandals too. My mom got the same pair so we are matchy-matchy!

Summer leggings

My winter leggings obsession has carried over into summer - with shorter and lighter leggings.

I'm also starting to realize that either I stand funny or my left leg is bigger than my right. Freaky!

Kicky leggings

The tights obsession is still going strong. I have been adding to my collection.

And now I am throwing tights into the mix. I vowed I will never wear them without a skirt or dress - I'm not brave enough to wear just like pants. I really digging them. They are so comfy and kicky.

Head over heels for tights

I found these tights on sale at Anthropologie and just like that I am on a tights kick.

I have been looking for more funky patterns and colors. BTW it is hard to take pictures of your own legs.

Old Navy 15 year celebration

The first commercial I saw was $15 corduroys at Old Navy... oooh I need some cords for fall. The next week was $15 sweaters... hmmm I need a new cardigan. I told Aaron... no more $15 deals would be luring me into Old Navy. Then they offered $15 puffy vests. *sigh*

Turns out it was Old Navy's 15 year birthday, which accounts for all the $15 deals. Totally nabbed me.

Matchy matchy

Today I was in New York to speak on a Media Relations Summit panel about corporate blogging with Debbie Weil and the Real Network blogger, Lacy Kemp. The panel went great but what I really want to focus on here is that WE DID NOT PLAN OUR OUTFITS. What are the chances we all have sky blue on? Sweet.

Blouse photos

My other new kick is cute blouses with frilly collars to wear under cardigans.

I really like this yellow one... I think I could use more yellow in my wardrobe.

I'm so happy it's light out when I come home from work, I can take pictures for my blog.

Aaron saw me taking pictures of my shirts but he didn't ask... I guess he's seen me take enough pictures of my shoes.

Pockets

I have a thing for dresses over jeans. This is my new favorite, a corduroy number I just got.

Just one problem I discovered. No pockets. I don't think I realized what pocket person I was until I didn't have any and couldn't get to my jean pockets.

I spotted a bunch of t-shirts at Target under the label "Tell the People". i really liked the birds on barbed wire design. They were for men, but the small size fit just fine.

pocket

I love pockets. I like putting my hands in my pockets. I like putting lip gloss in my pockets.

But every once in awhile I will get a new pair of pants or a jacket and the pocket are SEWN SHUT. Just like the pockets on my new grey jacket shown above. It is a mystery of the universe.

Everyone has been so helpful in finding a pattern for my little snowman... (I think this one is spot on) that I am hoping that someone will know the answer to this question.

Why do clothes that have pockets sometimes come sewn shut?

martha

I am so enamoured with the Martha Stewart line at Macy's. I liked her stuff at KMart, now this Tiffany blue at Macy's... it's got a hold on me. I can hardly stand it.

vera

I am also pretty excited about the Vera Wang collection at Kohls. Her clothes are so elegant. I could definitely get used to this high end designer at everyday stores trend.

shirt

Several people commented on how they liked the shirt I was wearing to the Rhinos game last Sunday. I have to admit I didn't think it would work when I saw it on the store, but when I tried it on I liked it, Aaron liked it and it was super comfy.

It's called an Angie Kimono... I found another one online and ordered it too!
