I have cell phone envy. I read these technology blogs and see pictures of cool looking cell phones, but when I walk into my local service provider... typical silver phones as far as the eye can see. The only thing they offer in the way of cool is the Razor or the kids Firefly. Those Fireflys get me everytime. I'm sucked in by the lime green transluscent shell... then I remember they only hold three phone numbers. (how many people do I really need to talk to anyway?)

Look how cute those PEBLs and Hello Kitty Phones are! (My plain jane cell phone is now sitting in my bag crying quietly to itself. )

  1. Those cell phones are adorable. If it makes you feel any better, I think my plain silver phone is crying too.

  2. Oh man, I love that one on the bottom right corner - I've never seen anything like that. Any chance you'd tell what kind it is, or maybe where you found it?

  3. The gold phone in the lower left corner is part of the Nokia L'Amour Collection.

  4. You do not have to buy one from your provider to have it work with your service. There is a huge industry built around this notion. Search 'unlocked phones' in google.

  5. Thanks Jenny, that would have driven me crazy trying to find that based on a description!

At that price, I'm thinking la unattainable too - at least until the next big thing comes out and these are discounted. :)

  6. anonymous... I thought about that... "I'll just buy the phone I like directly!... but then you have to pay full retail price whereas when you subscribe to your service you practically get the service provider phones for free.

  7. I've seen people decorate their phones with stick-on jewels. Some are very cute, some are not. I'm sure if you did it, it would fall in the "very cute" category.

  8. Actually, the Firefly phones hold up to twenty numbers. My little one won a sweepstakes run by the folks from Firefly and went to the Kids Choice Awards and received FIVE phones! Firefly rules!

  10. My silly Virgin Mobile plastic phone screams in embarassment. When it was featured in a Target commercial for kids, I really started to feel like I was 13. Now, these teens really have cool stuff.

  13. In our local mall, there is a booth that sells covers for cell phones. You can actually take off the outer shell and replace it with a fun patterneed or solid casing of your choice. They have TONS to choose from. Here's a site I found on the internet that sells the face plates. That should pretty up your phone!
