Bat-ugly

I seem to have hit a little disdain for my aversion to bats. I tried to pinpoint why I particularly did not want a bat smacking into me. I think I have narrowed it down to their leathery wings. If they were completely fur covered it would be a different story. One bat site refered to this leathery wing as a "wing membrane". Yes. I do not want "wing membrane" touching my face.

As I was browsing the bat sites, I started getting a better idea of what bats look like up close. Take a look for yourself. Here we have the (Mormoops megalophylla) Peter's ghost-faced bat, (Artibeus jamaicensis) Jamaican fruit bat, (Macrotus californicus) California leaf-nosed bat and the (Corynorinhus townsendii) Townsend's big-eared bat... in that order. Look at them! Look! Do I really need a reason for wanting one of these creatures not touching me?

Oh yes, bats are very helpful, eat insects etc... and some can be cute I guess... but you are not going to catch me snuggling up to one anytime soon.
