It was only a matter of time. I have been thinking about getting a Blythe doll for awhile now. It was Amy who had correctly guessed which doll I had my eye on and then pointed out a very good eBay auction featuring one. (Amy found this article explaining more about Blythe.)

So I bid and won a Velvet Minuet Blythe. I knew she was the one for me... she is a Korean anniversary doll, long brown hair and lots of bunny accessories. Aaron said he was a little spooked, claiming she looks like me.

Hah! I wish I looked that good with bangs. And could change my eyes to green.

I posted a few pictures of her here.

The dolls remind me of non-slutty Bratz dolls, probably because of the oversized heads.

oooh jenny... i have seen a few blythe dolls on some blogs, but yours is by far the cutest, and makes me want to get one...almost. im still a little creeped out by them, but i LOVE the pattern on the box, that gives them points in my book. looking forward to seeing what you do with her. have you seen the blythe stuff on craftlog?

I can't help but think my Happy Korean New Years post had something to do with this acquisition. LOL

Are you going to get the Korean Court Princess Barbie at Target too?

Ooh! I want one too! I've been eyeing them for a while now and still don't know which one is for me. Yours is mega-cute and is perfect for you!

I had one. I had one. In fact, my sister had one too, so we had two. They creeped us out back then, so we got rid of them eventually. Man, am I regretting that one.

When I was in Japan, they had Blythe dolls everywhere. At about $100 they were a little steep (and I had already purchased my fill of Japanese goodies), so I settled on a little Blythe. She has blue hair, pink eyes and is wearing a pink raincoat.

But yours with the bunny outfit? Too cute.

Um, Keri -- it would likely make you even sadder to know that vintage Blythes from 1972 fetch in the neighborhood of $1000 (and more, depending on condition) lately. Even ones with ratty hair go for multiple hundreds.

And Jenny, I see you have finally outed yourself. Welcome to the dark side! Love the Bratz outfits!

[have you named your VM? we all do that. we're freaks.]

How much are Blythe dolls anyway? I am curious.

Jenny should become an addict and decide you need more let me know. I live in Taiwan and have tons of this "craze"in the stores here. You are right, they are the new thing here. I haven't seen the one you bought though, I really like it. I can get more here if you need a collection!

Oh, VM. She is always the one to snag people. I know so many people who were not into the big eyed wonder, but then saw little matte faced bunny and fell into the never ending pit of dolly wonder
