When I was home for Easter, I told my mom I wanted to make some skirts.

She gave me this super simple skirt pattern.

It is old, but there are no zippers, no buttons... just a wraparound style.

I want to get a bunch of cool fabric and make a summer wardrobe of skirts.

Note, however, that I will not appear to have a 20 inch waist as featured here.

  1. Be careful about sizing if it's an old pattern. I have some 1960's patterns and, although I'm a 12 in a store I'd be about a 26 or higher on these patterns. People used to be a bit differently proportioned as well.

  5. I got a wraparound skirt pattern from New Look pretty recently. I made one for a friend, and it turned out pretty well. Summer skirts are the way to go! I have some that have a little elastic waistband. Very comfy. Can't wait to see yours!
Hey, are you planning to add the ringer shirts to your Cafepress store? I could use an ljc shirt to add to my summer wardrobe! -- Mariko/supereggplant

  6. I took one of my mom's old turquiose wrap skirts last summer...it's too fabulous. I love it and can't wait to wear it now that it's heating up again.

  7. Those waists make me laugh. Also, they make me not want to eat for the rest of the day.

Hoping to see a project page of skirt-making sometime soon! I think a wadrobe of summer skirts is a great idea and that's a really cute style.

  8. Wow - how old is that pattern? It looks so familiar - I think I may have made a wrap-around skirt from it in grade 8 Home Ec class in 1976. I had NO sewing skills, but it turned out great.
