Aaron's mom has these little crocheted snowmen... one for each member of their family. I think they are so cute. I went online to find a pattern and didn't have much luck.

I found patterns for a snowman made out of a sock... a mitten... even lightbulbs.

I finally found this one... the accessories and faces aren't the same, but the body looks about right.

  1. She didn't make them... I think it was one of the grandma's.

  2. There's a knitting pattern for snowmen in the Holiday Knits book by Allison Isaacs and Susan Lucas. I haven't tried it, but it doesn't look too hard.

  3. My mom used to make birds out of pompoms, which could easily be adapted into a snowman. She would just stick one pompom on top of the other then crochet a little hat for them. Then she would cut out felt eyes. Simple, easy and so cute!

  4. Have you tried roxycraft.com? They have a crocheted snowman pattern in their Christmas Pattern Collection and it only costs $6.50. It also includes a cute elf and a Christmas ornament.

  6. My parents had those when I was a little girsl (more like Aaron's mom's, not the pattern) and I totally forgot about them until now! I'll have to ask if she has them packed away, and if I can have them. thanks for reminding me :)

  7. I made some (if I don't say so) really cute sock snowmen two years ago. I have a couple of pics on my blog under my flikr craft photos.
Using different sized socks, I made S,M and L snowmen. The kid socks came out the cutest - ending up with only two balls for the bodies.

I also found a pattern to loom knit snowmen on provocraft.com (linked off my blog)
