New living room paint

We finished painting the living room. The view facing east.

Facing west. We still have a little spot to do over the window... Aaron has some patching to do there.

Facing south. It looks blue sometimes but the color is Serious Gray from Sherwin Williams.

We made a life changing discovery while painting the living room. I was dreading painting because almost all the rooms have picture frame moulding on the walls. That was going to be a LOT of taping off. Then I started to think - what if I didn't tape off? What if I cut in by hand? Turns out that worked just fine. We have steadier hands than I thought. Now all I can think about is all the time and tape we wasted in the past.

Another big time saver was the power roller we got.

A steady stream of paint and no drips made rolling the paint on go much faster also.

I think the gray really makes the white trim pop.

The windows and bookcases really stand out.

I couldn't wait to put all our stuff back on the shelves.

I really like the gray.

Now to figure out what art to put on the walls.

  2. Love it!! I see that having a tall husband comes in handy...! The play of light on the walls creates really interesting effects on the color.

Sadly, my hands are LESS steady than I would have thought and I still need to tape things off (grr), but your work looks fabulous!

  11. Perhaps without the power roller you could've taken days before you can finish painting the whole room. Nice furniture selection by the way, I like your wall cabinet.

  12. This is a great color palette you chose for the house. The gray is just subtle enough to let the white-trimmed furnishings stand out without taking all of the spotlight away from the walls. Great work.

  13. It seems the neutral shades are still rocking out. I've seen gray-trimmed blocks and gray-trimmed fixtures, and they all look as great as the walls here.

  14. Cool work with the renovation here, man. I think I'd keep that wall empty, though; it seems better that people appreciate the hard work put into getting the wall spruced up like that.

  15. A dapper coat of gray sounds like the best way to go these days. I was also thinking about repainting our walls with gray, but I just couldn't find the right shade. Maybe I could this one.
