El Galeon in the Port of Rochester

I heard through friends that one of the tall ships which is part of the Finger Lakes Tall Ships event was going to be docked at the Port of Rochester. We don't get an opportunity like that often so I was looking forward to seeing it.

The ship is the El Galeon, a reconstructed 16th Century Spanish Galleon. It was in the NBC tv show Crossbones!

Not only could you see the ship but you can go on board and tour it... Aaron went online and got us tickets!

Aaron felt right at home.

The crew is all Spanish and they are sailing it up the East Coast using 16th century European sailing techniques.

Heh heh. Poop deck.

We were able to go on five of the six decks.

I can't imaging living on a ship like this for months crossing the ocean.

It was great to see so many people at the Port of Rochester to check out the ship.

Rochester foot shot.

We also got to check out the new marina and have ice cream at the Abbotts in the old terminal building. Looks like a heavenly banana split doesn't it?

  1. Love your Salt Water Sandals. I have a pair and when I bought them the sales person said "Oh honey you'll have them forever." That was 19 years ago!
