Sunday: Glass

Today was a snowy blustery sort of day, so Aaron and I went to the Memorial Art Gallery for the afternoon. They had several of Dale Chihuly's work... glass sculptures.

I really enjoy his work... the pieces are so bright and colorful. The shapes are bubbly, flowing and oozing. A lot of them look like jelly fish. The example of his work I have here is a picture I took of the lobby ceiling of the Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas.

Glasswork also something I can't do myself. Working with glass seems so complicated and dangerous. Something about glass inhalation. Plus I really can't stand broken glass. When glass breaks I feel as though the shards scattered everywhere... and you can never really clean it up completely. I would be a nervous wreck in a glass studio.
