I'd like to thank everyone for their kind congratulations that have been left in my comments. They were wonderful to read.
As for wondering if the ring counted as a Christmas present, it did not. Aaron got me an easel and a palette among other things. After not painting for about five years, I recently did a piece for Tina's birthday, which made me feel like getting back into it.
Painting scrunched down on the floor is not optimal though, so the easel was a super gift.
