Today, Aaron, Tina, Chuck and I went to the Finger Lakes Fiber Festival in Hemlock, NY. There were scads of vendors and sheep and alpaca and bunnies. I bought a bag of roving for felting and a drop spindle to try and spin some of Ernie's wool.

Afterwards we drove around the Finger Lakes to visit a potential lakefront property that turned out to be really-big-pond property. The drive went somewhat like this... Me: "Barn mural! Pull over!... Grape pie! Pull over!... Ice cream! Pull over!... Grapes! Pull over!" Umm... yeah.

The complete story is in my EasyShare Gallery and my favorite shots are in Flickr.

  2. Handspinning! Now you're talking! (My favorite hobby.)

(Hint - try a lighter weight spindle, like a CD spindle, for short fibers.)

  3. Ohhhhh! Fiber as in fabric, raw materials for crafts, knitting, etc. At first I had visions of Metamucil and bran muffins, and thought, Fiber festival? How much fun can THAT be?!?
